cooling fan question

hey, i have a 2004 firebolt xb12r i just got a few weeks ago. my question is, does the fan ever run while the engine is on? mine only comes on when i flip the kill switch no matter how hot the engine is. is this normal? if so it would be nice to mod it so i can turn it on while siting in traffic.

my fan does the same, It might not be nice to have it running while sitting in traffic, could = cooked leg of jzchev

If you're sure it's not running anytime while the engine is running than you have a problem. You have no check engine lights coming on or nothing? Need to get you an ECMSpy cable and download the program Here. Download and read up on the manual at ECMSpy.com. It has a fan diagnostic as well as some engine diagnostics within the program.

Maybe izhev28's machine is perfectly tuned ...

My '04 XB12R fan comes on in stopped traffic less than five-minutes after leaving office @ outdoor temps 85+F.
Overheating anxiety kicks in for me 'bout then, too.

yeah it doesnt come on at all while rideing, or siting unless i shut off the bike. no ck engine lights, no trouble codes.
