So I want to work on my cornering a bit. It's not so much about keeping speed up while onthe twistie roads, but more of proper technique. I can ge the bike leaned over pretty far as well (I want to put my firebolt pegs back on) lately I've been riding the same road over and over bc it's close and still fun. But while doing the same curves over and over I have become more comfortable and used to them, which has made me push the envelope some and Ive got to the point where I can drag pegs/boots around some of the curves. (I need new boots now :/ oh well it's time for new ones anyway)

I know dragging the corners of my boots is not good. Does anybody have any advice on keeping my speed up, but avoiding dragging my boots, I ride with the pegs on the ball of my feet as it is.

They make boots with removable/replaceable shoe sliders for that reason. So you don't tear up your boots.

i ride on the tip of my toes. but i was thinking this same question.
gat a pic of your tires?
you either have a size 14 foot or your hanging your foot off. because i know if i clip the side of my shoe it pinches my shoe between the ground and the frame sets then the rear starts kicking out and that about a degree after i hear the honorably loud grinding of the curb feeler.

Yup. Gotta keep your toes on the pegs. Also prevents you from getting a broken foot due to road debris.

I have this pic and I HATE IT because my toes weren't on the pegs. I had just entered the track and hadn't settled in for the first turn yet.

Check out twist of the wrist 2 by Keith Code. It's kinda corny in spots, but has a lot of very good information. I have the DVD, there's a book too I think.

when your into the turn toes on the peg for the inside foot out side on the balls or back further.everyone is a little different.im always on the balls of my foot or the tips.to a lot of riders feet are just in the way but when you start using them for bike control you will become a better rider.get some boots with replaceable sliders.

yea see i dont think i'm hanging off the bike such as the picture above, b/c i know my knee isnt that close to the ground even when my toes/pegs are touching

Man if I could teach my girlfriend to corner like that with her feet, she could save money on pedicures by shaving them corns down in the corners! :D

stoner is kinda bad example because he does hang way off his bike. to keep it more up right
yea see i dont think i'm hanging off the bike
but i had forgot to ask if when you hit your shoe/peg is it just a hit or a long drag. the reason im asking is on some of the back roads around turns i bottom out the suspension in a turn and hit the pegs too.
also when your done riding hard do your legs hurt?

i can drag my shoe/peg for some length on the right turns, its not a matter of just bottoming out the suspension, i only weigh 140 lbs anyway. and yes sometimes my legs are sore

your weight has nothing to do with the suspension bottoming out when it gets loaded from the pressure of turning.
snap a picture of your tires
and also you might have to get your body more forward and off to the side more to keep the bike more upright around turns.

If you scoot your body over and lean your body into the turn more, your bike will be able to stay more upright, so your toes will not drag on the ground.

I also second A Twist of the Wrist
