Cost to mount and balance tires?

I guess I'm one of the fortunate to live near a HD dealer that is useful. They know they cant be competitive on tire prices which is why they let you bring in your own tires and just pay for the mounting. At least the good ones.

HD quoted me $100 to change my valve stem. I laughed at the guy and walked out. I have a local small shop that charges $25 per tire to mount on bike and $15 off no balance though.

I haven't balanced my tires the last two sets and haven't had any issues at all.

I had to change my rear valve stem. Took it to HD that doesn't work on Buells. He took it back, brought if out with new stem. I asked what I owed and he said don't worry about it. Didn't charge me a penny! So I tipped him $20.

good info, fellas. jeez, seems like the the HD dealers are either great, or they suck.
hundred bucks for a valve stem install? I just laughed, myself.
I'd have done the same as you netty.

I'm gonna check around for some smaller shops.
