Couple Quickies...

Idle: I adjusted the idle to be at right about 1000 as it was much lower and just sounded choppy almost. Is this going to affect anything else or require any other adjustments?

Heat: Is it normal for the fan to come on during riding? I thought I read on here to the contrary. After riding for several minutes it always comes on.

Idle: It shouldn't effect anything, but why did you have to adjust it? why was it much lower? did you install something new?

Heat: My bike's fan comes on when I'm going slow or in hot climates. What is the temp been durning your rides?

Running hot+needing to adjust things might mean you are running lean.

What mods do you have done?

My fan almost never comes on. And I live in a place where the summers are pretty hot. it only comes on when im pushing 90mph+ for more than just a couple minuts, or if im in stop and go traffic in bigger cities. As for the idle, mine has always idled at 1k.

How do you know going that fast that your fan is even running?

My Comes on in slow traffic and when I turn her off.

Well, I bought the bike used and it just idled low, I'm guessing somewhere between 800 and 900..I though I read somewhere that they come out of the factory set a little low. Now it's at 1K and just feels better.

I live in Washington DC and the summers get pretty hot and sticky. I'm not sure if the fan is on when I'm on the highway because I can't hear it but once I slow down into traffic it's on.

No mods done at all except just replaced the ignition coil.

I know I'm due for an oil change so I'm hoping some nice synthetic oil will cool it down some.

How do you know going that fast that your fan is even running?

I Guess I dont know as im going that fast, but as I slow down I can start hearing it, so I assume it was running before.

1. idle is normal round 1000, some set it lower to get that harley rumble.

2. fan can come on when riding, but if it's running after a few minutes, something is off.
check oil level, change to good synthetic oil, good spark plugs, check a/f ratio...these are all things that help your engine run cooler

I changed the oil last night and already i think i notice a difference. I have recently changed the spark plugs, [b\]but what what about the a/f ratio, how do i check that?[/b}
