Hello All!

My 2006 (early VIN #) just had major crank failure at 26k. I have started to the pull the bike apart but wanted to do a sanity check and see if its worth rebuilding. The front cylinder, piston, and crank are toast. My guess is 1500 in parts to get it where I want it and back together...OR buy a used motor... OR I could just part it out.

I guess my biggest question is: Are XB parts in high demand?

I like the bike but don't need this headache again...

Thanks in advance!

Engine failures on XB's are few far and in-between. If you enjoy the bike I would purchase a used engine and have at it.

Used motor for $1000. Part your heads and motor for offset cost.
Easiest way to go.

Though 06\07 motors can be tough to source. They had updated oil pump drive gear and oil fitting system is different from 03-05 & 08-10.

Xb-r parts are not in demand but XB-s are. It's still not worth a lot since motor is a big chunk of that $.

Id like to say that HD motors are not by any way in the industry standard...lol, but we all love them(Buell).......also......paulpud is the man... umdterp has pissed me off from the first go around(call paul first!)

Come on guys lets not sit here and bad mouth anyone. We're all here for a common interest, buells.

Ive dealt with UMDterp13 before and have no complaints. Prompt response and is always helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing but good things to say for him or PaulPud.
