Crankcase locking tool wanted

Does anyone have the crankcase locking tool that is needed for the rotor and stator mod? I am interested in either buying it or even loaning it from someone. I can't seem to justify the $65 EBR price for a tool that is used for all of 3 mins while replacing the rotor.
 
Does it look like a piece of steel bar stock? if so, i just made one at work from a chunk of steel. ground the ends down to fit in the sprocket teeth.
 
DeWALT DW059 cordless 1/2" impact wrench with 300 ft-lbs is perfect for re-torqing as well, just make sure transmission is in the 6th gear before you do any work in order to provide some resistance
 
Any real man can determine the amount of torque applied through the impact....

not really, they are correct, but at the same time I can say that nothing I've used the impact on has fallen off the bike....yet *knock on wood*

That's a great idea, I have an air compressor impact wrench but may see if I can find that dewalt at Home Depot. I'm sure some locktight would mend any slight difference in torque.

The only issue there is I am severely limited in any machining or metal work. I'm gonna have to guesstimate with the torque wrench I think
 
I'm a machinist and could easily turn down a bar and cut the threads, but I bought the tool anyway. Because I did not know the correct dimensions and it's the sort of job that if you turn it too small and there is play in the fit then (especially since I don't have a torch to harden it) the tool could bend and become stuck. That would be no fun.

Jamming something into the actual gear teeth(!) instead of using a tool in the locking hole is not something I'd ever try. Before I tried that (if I had no tool) I'd put a fat person on the seat, put it into gear and roll the tire against a wall. At least if that didn't work it wouldn't damage anything...
