Well, hello!
Does anybody know suitable crash pads for 2005 XB12R?
GSG seems to be best how it's located on the engine, but the right one mounts on timer plate studs. Doubtfull.

There should be something, that mounts on the cover screws like the left one! Can't find.
LSL has strange mount, sliders located too high and near to frame pucks. So it's meaningless.

As a new owner of a Buell, only can say, that it is something that could be put permanently in the center of your room just to admire it. Such a toy.

Think should put this.

Finally got GSG. They helped. I was surprised that there was no damage to brake pedal except scratches. Haven't tried the left side yet though... Good news, but (to be honest, it was a slow speed light fall)...
The most disadvantage of the right and rear axle sliders is that they have no shock caps like the left one, and now they are scratched.
Besides, see no way how front axle sliders can do their job... Not only GSG, but of this tiny size. Everything should be bent before they touch the ground...
And i don't believe those rear axle sliders will protect rear pegs. There are longer sliders, but not sure this time which make will fit.
So this is complete set of GSG for 2005 XBR

We make similar product but I don't think you're going to find an axle slider that will protect your pegs. By the time they'd be long enough, they would pose other dangers to the bike and/or the rider.

Please have a look at our site and let us know if we can help with anything.

Thanks for the offer!
Well, i'd prefer a bigger axle slider, but i ask not to consider this as a negative reply at all. Especially the engine part. These serve their purpose for minor crashes - can save rear pulley|rotor and the headers (though the headers are not considered a critical part, but you have to remove the engine to replace them!).
Besides they are whole caprolon, think this handles (dampens) shocks better.

Just wondering why they (GSG) do not put a protective cap on the right side engine slider! This should be perfect at all!

Well, another thing is to protect the handlebars. This time appears that the handlebars protect the frame pucks ))

Think this could help http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/70.html. At least, as you can suppose... But it has a really critical mounting point. Not sure about side effects etc.

Even without all that, this bike is a good christmas-tree decoration by itself ) http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-bizarre/motorcycle-stuck-in-tree-after-crash/20860.html

Not taken negatively at all. We welcome the discussion and always enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience with our customers.

We chose to make the slider parts on our case sliders out of an engineered plastic rather than aluminum as some of our competition does so that they stand a better chance of absorbing the impact of the fall while minimizing the transfer of forces through the cases. The whole idea of a slider is to have a sacrificial part take the brunt of the impact. In order to do that, you must use softer materials than what the sliders are mounted to. In the case of case sliders, the cases are made from cast aluminum which is softer than billet aluminum hence our use of the plastic parts. We use aluminum on our axle sliders because they are mounted to steel (which is harder than aluminum). Make sense?

As we've always said, no slider provides a complete "forcefield" of protection for every circumstance. Motorcycle crashes are very unique dynamic events. Our products help to give you motorcycle a better chance of survival in a crash...No guarantees that they will protect in every circumstance but we have had a 100% track record thus far with hundreds of products sold. Just being honest and realistic. If anyone claims total protection, they're being disingenuous. Thanks!

PS - Your Trojan Horse link didn't work.

Well, point points to nowhere (

Make sense?
Sorry, didn't mean to offend you in any way. Just what i got on my mind generally, regardless of a product. I believe, you make it on top.

Think this could be a good choice if i had a focus before, but now i am not sure, that i really want to replace things that work. Rear axle, maybe, but don't need front ones.

If anyone claims total protection, they're being disingenuous.
Have you seen that bike on a tree :) No doubts...
