Custom front pulley cover

Ha! Don't get your hopes up too quickly. I don't have the means to mass produce them. I need to make one before I can even think about making more for other people.

I just remembered that we have some 3D printers at school. I might be able to Rapid Prototype one pretty easily, as long as my professor doesn't charge me for it, but since it is at school it has to be for "educational" purposes for just myself.

Both designs look great.
- I like the first one for perforated holes in the rear part which seems to look like the begining (matches) of the heel guard.
- The second one has its advantage due to continuation of the chin fairing (spoiler) look.

Perhaps it would be nice to put together both designs. I mean to add perforated holes (in the rear part) to the pulley cover with the black (chin fairing) insert.

Great job Baylock1988! Rep point for that[up]

I need this...I. must. stop. looking. at. this. thread.. Ive already planned how i would paint it for my 09 black frame lol

I know what you mean. I didn't want to put the holes on the black part because then it wouldn't continue the chin fearing look as well, but I didnt want to put them in the same place as the 1st two designs because there isnt enough space to start a pattern without being covered.

I am going to contact one of my professors and see if I would be able to rapid prototype one to try out.

Tastes differ and maybe everybody else won't like this idea. It is just my idea to share with you and not more.

Best of luck with your project[up]

Small update. I got some mock-up pieces made. The main cover is perfect but I am going to redo the black piece to match the photoshop concepts a little better.

I love the mix sondermann has come up with.

If you make this. I will buy.

Actually I have the first prototype done. Nothing in CAD yet. It might be a bit tougher to do that then I thought because I don't know how to measure the radius and length of some of those curves, so it would be all trial and error. My Dad and I just need to cut out the main hole over the pulley to the right size and find some longer screws/bolts to mount the plate. I will post some pictures in a couple days.

I would buy the ssecond idea with the holes. Looks fantastic. Love how it follow the Lina of the bike. Great idea [up]

Does anyone have suggestions on how to cut out a clean 5.5 inch diameter circle out of 0.071" T3 Aluminum?

I need to do the same cut for some speaker brackets to install some new speakers in my Explorer as well.

And you guys thought I forgot all about you. My dad and I finally finished the pulley cover. I just did a quick clear coat and put on a piece of vinyl wrap for a ride up to the Blue Ridge Parkway on the 10th. I will sand it and repaint it next weekend hopefully.

So here it is!

lol finger print smudges.

This took a LOT of time and work so I probably won't be making more of these to sell. Unless anyone knows a Machine shop that will make them. I am also taking an advanced CAD/CAM class this semester and will be able to scan the 3D part into Pro/E and get the actual dimensions and measurements, but that will not be until our final project at the end of the semester

that looks sweet would look really good with matching gloss paint... maybe 5-0 would be interested in mass production maybe?

Looks good! I forgot about your tail piece! Looks good as well. You should add some light behind that cheese grater when the brakes light up. I think that would look sharp!
