I have a chance to get this fairing stay for real cheap,I want to trim one down and I was wondering from you guys than have cut yours down if this one is worth bothering with. I know you cut down the upper arms, but do you mess with the bottom two? Pics would help tremendously Thanks in advance

Was thinking about it myself. If you cut the bottom, you can probably only go so far before the fuse boxes start sticking out like a sore thumb in the stock positions.

Also cutting the bottom arms will probably bring your blinkers in (if you still plan to run them there) and behind your headlights a little more, possibly making them harder to see through your headlights to oncoming traffic.

the bottoms also help hold the fairing on. I wouldn't mess with the bottom if you start trimming the top.

Not sure what you are trying to do, but are you trying to lower the whole front end?

My is lowered and tucked, but its a make or break process.

Something like this (I can't remember who's bike this is)

Or Xtremelow's bike. Basically cut the front fairing down smaller for a different look

i cut the top sub frame but not hte bottom. if you are running the fairing it is only held on by the blinker mounts and the two bottom screws on the screen. remove the blinker mounts and its only hte screws.

can be done as you can see above.

this is my efforts...

in the first its just the top stays and fairing top that have been cut. with a trimmed screen as well.

in the second the tails after the blinkers have been trimmed and this fairing cut to shape the sub frame.

Thanks Twoguns! That's exactly what I was looking for. [up] rep for ya.

It pretty much looks like the one I was gonna buy wouldn't be any good then. I may still try to repair it or come up with something else.
Thanks again guys!

without the lower mounts you will have one crazy small fairing. All I did was trimmed the top down nothing to the sides or lower piece.

Thanks man, I picked up the broken one anyway. It was a pretty good deal and I think I can repair the busted piece. I'll post pics once I get into my project :D
