you need make sure if you open up the exhaust that the proper air fuel is kept I went with a race ecm k&n and a jardine intill it rotted out then I made my own. The jardine was a flow thru muffler with min. amout of back pressure I lost low end torque. with my new muffler it sounds better and will last longer, with a gain of torque and h.p.if you want to see and hear it let me know [up]

I guess it depends on how you define "right."

I know that the guys that are in the business of doing this (Drummer, Spec O.P.S., Hawk, etc) have done a fair amount of R&D to get the design "right" (optimized design for HP & TQ). Of course, the worst case is that you lose power and/or torque and potentially make the bike run too lean.

I'd suggest getting ECMspy if you don't already have it and reading alot of posts on the topic. When it comes down to it, you have to decide if saving the $$ is worth the time and effort to get the best design.

Me...I went with Hawk. I get it next week. I'll be posting pics and clips once it's installed.

Good luck in whatever you decide!!
