Hello, first post here.

Well I just purchased my first bike, 04 xb12r, about a month ago.
I also just recently laid down my first bike, an 04 xb12r.

Long story short I was on a road I didn't know, at night, lots of fog, shitty headlights.
Im okay, bikes fine, broke the clutch lever but got a gixxer one off Motosport.com for 9.99. Not bad.

To the point, I was just researching bulb upgrades and came across HID kits. For 50$ ddmtuning makes a two bulb hid kit with everything you need(so they say?).
I was looking at getting the dual 55w 8000k kit.
Anybody have any experience with them? For that price even if it's a minor upgrade over my stockers, it's worth it.

worth it. I've used a few ddm tuning HID kids. I'm just debating on replacing my low beam projectors to the Hella 60mm lamp. The firebolt headlamps suck...

Yeah..they should be here around Friday maybe Monday. I'll be sure to post before and after pics, as well as install pics, if anyone's interested.

A note for you when installing your HID's. When you turn on your firebolt, the headlight comes on, then turns off ass you start, and comes back on. This process is very hard on your HID ballast, and leads to a very short life. A good solution would be to either A: install a timer relay on your headlight, so there is a 45-60 second delay before the lights turn on allowing you bike to be up and running. Or option B: simply install a switch on your low beam and turn it on after your bike is running. I will look for the DIY thread on installing HID's in a firebolt.

I personally just tossed a small hidden switch on my low beam and turn it on after i get the bike running, however the timer relay would eliminate the possibility of forgetting to turn on your light.

EDIT: found some of the helpful threads on HID relays

I use the switch route also. Additionally gives you to option of riding w/o the low beams if you are having a charging problem or something.

I got the Dual 55w kit but in 4500. Its Stupid bright. I have only used my high beam once and it was lastnight. I had to kill it instantly thought when cars came. Its probably to much. I should have just done a single HID for low beam so i could flash halogen faster for high beam. And I used the "kajer" relay mod. But was thinking mby just a switch would have been easier..

How did the 8k's look creeping death? Are they kinda blue? Mine are just plain solid bright white. curious on other 55w kits.

i have a 55w 8k in my car, looks identical to to a 35W 6K its a light shade of blue. the 55W tends to really wash out the color, so if your looking for a blue light, I would suggest going a higher color temp.

I have the DDM HID's in near everything i own and work on. They are a great value for what you get and if you need replacement parts they are also cheap. But i never run a temp over 6k but thats not my style to have the super blue light it just is not as bright as the 4500k to me.

Any issues with the 55W creating too much heat? I have a lighting so maybe this question is better served directed at the lighting guys?

I have my DDM kit in the shopping cart, just wanted to make sure the 55W wasn't too hot?

And I used the "kajer" relay mod.

CrazyTexanwhere did you buy the "kajer" relay?

I have yet to see housings messed up by running 55w hids. I run them btw. Armymp09 did too in his lightning.

Oh9bolt, Which kit/bulbs did y'all go with? Dual/5k,6k, etc?

Dual 5k. I have had mine in my firebolt for 2 years. No timer delay mod just plugged in.

I want to make it so I don't have a hi beam. I have have HIDs on my car and I know I don't need hi-beam anymore. How hard is to do? And how hard is to install a switch for the headlights. I would like this for when I teach in a parking lot and don't have to deal with a dead battery.

I did the mod so that both headlights are on when you have the high beams on. Then I put a manual switch on the low beam. That way I can have just the high-beam, just the low beams, or both on or both off. I start the bike with both off so I don't shorten the life of my HID's.
