Hi everyone, I really enjoy this board. I currently own a Sportster and an really thinking about getting a Buell. I live in Mi and wanted to know if anyone has a dealership that they prefer. I have ckd online but it seems that HD are the first line and not many Buells are in stock. Thanks for the Help D

I also live in Michigan...slim pickins here i'm afraid. I got mine at Cummings HD in Burton, Mi. Good deal but most of the slaes people dont know much about Buells. Their service department is horrible so dont count on them for any help. I liked Brighton HD in Brighton, Mi, but they have since stopped carrying Buell. They directed me to their sister store in Ann Arbor who still deals in Buell. I called them a little while ago and didn't get the impression that they were very knowledgeable either. At least they sell the bikes!!! [up] Do your homework before you go so you know what you want before you get there, and all you have to really talk to the sales person about is pricing and financing[cool] I hope that helped, any other questions..ask away:D:D:D I wish I had more positive feedback about the dealers in Michigan but....it is what it is.

Thanks for the reply. I live in the Lansing area and I had wondered if the Ann Arbor store was worth a look.
What model did you buy? I am not sure which model I want for sure. Practicality is the Uly. with the utility of it but, I really like the lightenings.
D

Don't bother with Great Lakes HD in Bay City. Last time I was in there they had 1 ULY and that was it. There is one mechanic there that knows and rides Buells however. Very frustrating. I was able to get my Firebolt from a private owner. I loved the bike so much, I sold my '68 Camaro with a 427 to be able to afford it. No regrets!

I stand corrected! I stopped into Great Lakes HD today. There sat a fresh 1125R. First one I have seen in person....WOW! Now I wish I would have waited for it to come out. Also, I spoke with a salesman who said they have 2 Uly, a Lightning TT, and 2 other new Buells. If you are looking for a new bike, it would be worth giving them a call. They only had the 1125R on the showroom floor. Said the others are yet to be assembled. Hope this will help....If you have the cash, 1125R is your only option!

I have an 06 XB12Ss. Bad ass. Same bike as the firebolt minus the front wind screen and less lean angle.

Thanks guys for the help. It is as I suspected about the dealer situation. I am going to stop in Ann Arbor on monday to see what they have in stock, and to see how the place looks. D

Nice...let me know how it goes because I have to get my TPS reset in the spring....the're about my only option left [mad]

The XB12Ss is actually quite different from the Firebolt in many ways.....

I meant in looks...It's longer has the frame of the ULY etc...etc... I was trying to keep a short post but if you like BPG will list every single difference between the 2 down to the last nut and screw [smirk][up]

Well the visit went well. I am not any more sure on the ? of which bike I want or if I should stay with my sporty.
They did not have any lightenings there but had a Uly and several of the firebolts. Wow is the seating position on the uly high, I could barely touch. I am 5ft 8 inches and I do not like not being able to touch the ground. I think that to ride 2 up could be dangerous at the stops. I was hoping to see a STT but no luck. D

I can almost go flat footed on my SS. With the wife on the back its no problem and I actually bend my knees a bit. ( shes not a hog or anything...just the extra bit of weight helps ) I also lowered my seat a bit. But let me tell you..NONE of them are that comfortable 2 up riding for any length of time. I can ride for about an hour with her then my back and my balls need a break. The bolts and lightnings will be about the same height unless you go for the SCG. The big difference will be in the riding position, a bit more upright on the lightnings.

Oh how was the dealership BTW? Nice? Clean? Knowledgeable?

The dealership is nice. They have a nice access. area and the people seemed to really want to help. Just like most HD stores in that they know HD first.
I did not get a chance to cruise the service area so I can not comment on that. D

Thanks...I'll probably head down there when the snow melts. I'm glad that they seem to care thats already better than all the dealers i went to [up]

Let us know what you get or if you decide to keep the sportster. (See if you can locate a lightning SCG to sit on, that one may fit you like a glove [cool] )

I am currently in Columbus and I went to the AD Farrow co. Hd/Buell store in Sunbury tonight and was able to try on a couble more bikes. I tried a 08 uly which was much lower than the one in Ann Arbor. Must be the one in AA is a 06 or 07. Still it is a tall bike. I also tried a 07s and it is flat footed position. The one I really liked was a stt which was ball footed fit. The strange thing was it did not have the lifted front fender and it did not have the solid white or orange tank? It was a cherry translucent tank? The price was awesome..7600ish. If I had my sporty down here that may have been it. D

What year was it? Was it new or used? Mileage? I paid $7000 out the door for my 06 long that I bought in January of 07. It was a repo with 500 miles on it, cant beat it [up]

The reason I ask if it was used is maybe someone changed the plastics? Or maybe the dealer did it to sell a different bike. I.e someone wanted a white Lightning, they only had a cherry one, and a white STT. Instead of ordering plastics they swapped the ones on the bikes they had.

It was a new bike and it had TT written on the triple tree piece. I was thinking the same thing about the plastics. I got a call from the AA store and they told me that they do have 2 07s at their warehouse and ask if I would be interested in cking them out. So Tuesday I am going to ck it out on my way back to Columbus. D

This bike had a rear set of pegs and a 2 up seat. Also the side # plates were not there. It was like a ss model but it was taller. I wish I would of gotten some pictures but I did not. I will see what the one in AA cks out like and see if they are the same. D
