Well, I decided I'm going to keep my 2008 XB12Scg, so I started thinking about the original tires. The bike has just over 6k miles on it, and the original tires still have plenty of tread on them, but man they feel hard to the touch. So I checked the date code on them and sure enough, it reads 2806, so they were made in the 28th week of 2006. 10 1/2 years old....I'm not picky, but that's TOO old for me to trust them, really. Do you guys agree? I started doing a little research, and it seems like lots of people like the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires. I have the pair in my cart on the Revzilla site....about $250 including shipping. It'll probably cost me another $100 to have them mounted and balanced. But the confidence of having good (aka SAFE) tires is worth it, I think.

I would never ride on tires that old. $350 vs my skin\body and medical bills\lost wages? Not even a close decision.
You already knew the answer to the question, but ill provide the nudge you wanted

Yes, I did. And Yes, I was looking for the nudge. Thanks for being that guy. Haha.

Done deal. They're on order. I know that I won't regret it. OR my decision to keep the bike....it's one of the few things in my life that I get joy from at this point.

I wouldn't waste time balancing. Add Ride On Tire Sealant and it will autobalance the tires as long as you use them. Plus it may save you from a flat tire.

Tires on. Rode the bike to the shop yesterday in 20 degree weather. Shop got them mounted and balanced already....picked up the bike after work today and rode it home. (Left my Honda Hurricane there for clutch and brake fluid flush/fill). Man do these new tires feel different...as in BETTER. Even in this cold weather I can feel how soft and sticky they are.....no more riding on hockey pucks!
