So this dent happened last July, on my broken ankle nonetheless. Took it to the shop and they said it wouldn’t be a problem. However I can’t get over the fact that it is dented. Does anyone have any methods to get rid of it besides just putting a frame puck over it?
Thanks

Bondo and shape the material. Nothing else can be done. Its a cast frame so it cannot be pounded from the inside.

Well you can't weld a rod to it, and pull on it.... thats how you'd pull a dent, but thats a gas tank, so I wouldn't do it.

lol yea gas and sparks hmmm BOOM!!

yea i vote bondo plus frame puck = beautiful

and on top of that it wont happen again

Yep, Bondo. Just make sure you use a heavy grit like 50 or so to scuff it up past the powder coat to get a good bond.

pulling out a dent like that with tear your aluminium.

fill it with tin, shape it and paint.

Swapping a frame is cost prohibitive @ best.
Even if you get it dirt cheap.
It's a tremendous amount of work and you'd probably be in over your head.

The puck idea idea don't work either 'cause your dent distorts the crease.
It would have been a great idea b4 the accident.

You can weld and pull small dents if you fill the tank w/ water.
No go boom then, but a dent that big might indeed tear.
You'd need to heat the area and even then it's risky.
Approach that idea with caution.

There are frame covers.
If the area isn't too distorted, you could cover and forget it.

Just don't tell you insurance company.
They'll total it.

Still worked very well on the salvage bike I bought.

Don't know what that dent looked like.

The puck sits just behind where the metal bends over.
So, if that bend isn't distorted then the puck might cover it.
If, like in this pic, the dent distorts that bend, pushing the metal out of shape,
the puck won't cover it and you'll have a gap.

If you don't mind having a gap, then you're set. Problem solved.

If you're like me. It won't work. It'd drive me crazier than the dent itself.

How 'bout hammering it into a more pleasing, purposeful shape and then matching it on the other side. Maybe nestle a couple NO2 canisters on either side of the tank and running the piping up into the airbox.

Wouldn't that turn a couple heads???

Don't use Bondo It crap ??? Who gave you that idea??

Like I said you cannot pull then dent even by filling the frame with water. It is a cast frame and the chances are you will fracture the aluminum in some way. Aluminum does not have memory. Fill it,shape it,Buell frame paint and a puck. Or I know someone selling a 9 frame.

Thats where i would go....[up] definently for creative insite.... Out side the box
