So i pulled my stock exhaust off and on the bottom of the front there is a dent. I bought my xb9r used and know for a fact i didnt run anything over. From what i hear its pretty common. Anyone have any first hand experience hitting or running something over to cause this? Im just curious because im sending my can to hawk then having it powder coated and want to avoid whatever is causing this to happen again. Thanks

I'd say almost all of them are like that. You might not even notice hitting something I guess? nothing to worry about if it's not too large of a dent.

Randy actually welded a reinforcement plate in that area for me. i'm sure if you asked him, he would do the same for you.

I parked on a sidewalk once and when I left I rode it off the edge into the street and bumped it on the way down and must of nicked the front strap because it broke later on.

I've managed not to dent mine yet, but usually hear its speed bumps/curb hopping that causes it. Not really a big deal though, doesn't effect anything unless you catch the strap on something.

I'm confused by all these dented exhaust. My 09 SS has 10,400 miles and no dent. Recently sold an all original ( with race exhaust ) 03 XB9s with 9800 miles with no dent. My 08 STT I sold back in april had 7000 miles with no dent. Guess i'm just lucky.[confused]

That's exactly what did mine! Hopped over a seemingly very shallow curb, but these exhausts sit low! It's only a very minor dent, but I was so pissed, more at my stupidity! My otherwise immaculate 12R was blemished!

Lol [up] i was just wondering what i should avoid with a fresh powder coated can

Well my friend powder coats and ceramic coats. He said that if the powder dont hold up he will redo it for free. I dont really want to take my headers off, i dont have alot of tools and no service shop around to do it.
