Hey I'll be in Munich sometime towards the end of September beginning of October! But thats just to visit friends and enjoy the festivities of Oktoberfest but hey your not too far from Munich..

Dang man, I just PCSed from Ramstein a few months ago after spending 5 years there. I absolutely loved Germany and I want to go back as soon as I can. I plan on retiring there in.... oh say 13 years or so. Things actually make sense there. I envy you!

Meetch, you have to ask the friends you're visiting if there are any other fests going on besides oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is great, just REALLY crowded.

I will definitely look into other fests that may be going on for sure... I have visited germany (well europe for that matter) many times and have never been able to experience Oktoberfest.. And the friends that have say its just about the largest party they have ever been to....

Largest party I've ever been to was when Germany held the 2006 world cup ..especially when it was Germany vs. Portugal for 3rd place overall.. the result was 3-1 Germany... and the after party was unreal!! the streets were flooded.. and were until the early morning.
