Did i ruin my transmission?

Ok i downshifted really fast from 5 to 1 going probably about 60mph just getting on the interstate. I was never told that i shouldn't have done this. Regardless now that we know that I'm an idiot. SO when i do0wnshifted it got stuck in neutral and i tried getting it in first gear and i heard a lot of grinding. I finally got it into first but after now every time i ride my bike jerks really bad. In first and 2nd gear is the worst jerking. it stops at high rpms is seems. begining of 3rd gear is little jerking but after that it runs fine. Any diagnosis? expensive fix?

What do you mean by jerking? You mean that when holding at a constant speed in that gear, you experience slipping and catching?

you probably did some damage, I don't believe 1st should be doing 60. depending on what route you go to fix it it could be moderate to expensive. I know on my friend's bike he downshifted and let the clutch out when he was going too fast for the gear. the rear locked up and completely screwed the electricals. caused the rpm to shoot over the limiter and he was scared sh*tless that he broke the engine, so he pushed the bike 3 miles to his house where I tore it down.

Change your primary, following the video in DIY section, and look for any big chunks of metal.

Go from there.

See if new oil makes any difference.

Next time, shift back up to second.
