Hey guys I just got a xb9r not too long ago and it has been running great up until this weekend. All of a sudden it's dieing when I come to a stop but not all the time. Can anybody help me with this. Thanks

Idle is fine. Only mod I was told was the jardine pipe and he said it was tuned for it. He did have holes cut out in the air box cover but they were taped shut when I got it so I left the tape on there.

Sometimes the cel comes on for a 4/second period every time you start the engine.
This is the fuel priming the injection system, wait till the light goes off before starting..
Your idle may need to be bumped up 50/rpms so it doesn't stall. the jardine muffler opened up the exhaust so a better idle may be all needed to keep it from happening(Stalling) that is .
Possibly the Throttle position sensor needs to be looked at.
Run some Seafoam in your fuell tank to clean out the injectors, just follow the instructions for adding NOT the Whole Can at one time.
Hopefully the bike just needs to be Tweeked a bit.The Jardine is hard to tune so try the small inexpensive things first, hope it is an easy fix. *Jimi

joe: do you have anyone close by who can plug into the ECM and run diagnostics and TPS reset? what jimi said on idle and when sufficiently warmed and assuming your tach needle is accurate and hasn't been screwed with...you should see about 1000rpm on tach for warm idle. try that.

Thanks guys. I rode it to work with only it dieing once. When hot the idle is right at 1000. But when I rode it after work with the gf it died twice. Also when this is happening the clutch is fully engauged. I will try the sea foam and ill find a place for the tps reset. I know of one place by me that should be able to do it. thanks again guys

joe: it only costs $16 and takes about an hour or less. i'd try a new set of NGK iridium tipped plugs in it prior to TPS reset. they make a world of difference and i have the spark plug # if you need it.

NGK/ DCPR 9 EIX is a good plug for these bike Engines. And Yes the Harley Stock plugs work fine too! The TPS reset is a good thing in case the prior owner hasn't done it in a while.Wherever you have it Repaired or Checked make sure to KEEP the orignal parts.
This way you know more of what is going on with your machine.Make sure to recheck your grounds and the Battery Terminals. The NGKs only need to be checked on the gap the Tip of the Electrode is fragile so if you need to gap the plug to .030 thousands then use the edge of the plug to gap not touching the electrodes tip so it doesn't break. Good Luck .*Jimi

check ur battery too. if u dont ride it daily then the battery will lose charge. newer batterys not so much, but older batteries yes. newer batterys can hold a charge without a lot of help from the stator, older batterys need the voltage charge. highway speeds (60 mph) charge the battery really well, even if its only 5-10 miles. daily riding will def keep a charge in the battery cells.

I've had the same problem lately with my 05 xb12r. Thought maybe gas with "up to 10% ethanol" might be the problem. Didn't consider the possibility of low battery voltage (haven't been riding it much the last few weeks. Original battery and have noticed slow cranking lately). Agreed on using premium fuel. Its worth the little extra $ to reduce the likelihood of detonation---that's a pretty big combustion chamber!

Ok sounds good. I'll get those plugs. The previous owner said the battery is a month old so I kinda ruled that out but I could check all the grounds to make sure nothing's loose. Also I have only been putting premium in it since I got it but who know what the previous guys was putting in it. It's probably going to get garaged soon for the winter and ill go thru and double check everything on it and replace what needs to be. Thanks again guys
