so, riding home last week on my 2007 xb12s, my belt snapped mid-wheelie. need a new one. I measure and count teeth, and come up with 1 and an 1/8 inch 128 tooth belt. scared to order wrong size since they're not cheap, I search google, buellxb.com, and owners manual to no solid info on correct belt. ended up trusting my measurement and counting skills and ordered a drag specialist 1 1/8 belt with 128 teeth. anyone have any experience with this belt ??

the specs on the factory installed 2007 XB-S model belt are: 128 Teeth x 14 mm pitch x 1 1/8 inch ( 28 mm ) wide.
if that's what you ordered it should fit. the drag specialties belt typically says goodyear/falcon on it along with other jibberish.
quality comparable to anything else out there including OEM. extremely rare for these belts to just "snap" unless there's something askew.

yeah that's what I ordered, got it from Revilla.com for $154. bought bike in march which had 21,000 now is sitting with 23,500 but of course I have no idea how old the belt was.

a funny side note to story, when belt snapped I dialed up local Harley shop for assistance. they quoted me $190 for belt that they had to order. then for the hell of it I asked "how much for the install ?" they said $295 !!!

^^^^ nice grab jesse. i love those guys and new castle is a great dealership.
john: do you know proper procedure to install the new belt? do you have a service manual? do you know that it is NOT necessary to remove the swingarm to do this job? and lastly do you know the belt ''run in" procedure? it's not in the manual.

lunatic, I've watched a youtube video on it, I do have a service manual from buellmods.com, yes ive seen that its not necessary to remove swingarm, and no I'm not familiar with run in of new belt

Belt run-in per Lunatic - "on the belt just take the bike out after you get a bit of heat in the motor, run up to 3rd gear and from around 2500rpm zing the throttle up to 5000 or so and chop the throttle...till you slow down to 2500 again and repeat. keep it in 3rd. do this about 5X in a row and will set the belt tension for you. regards, john"
