Drive belts....

How many miles should you change the drive belt? What is the defference with the 2003 and newer bikes.

The '03 Belt has smaller teeth and is 12mm wide versus the larger teeth on the '04+ belt and 14mm wide.

This also requires new pulleys as the teeth are a different size

Bike on the right '04+ pulley setup on my Ss swing arm swap, bike on the left '03 pulley setup. You can sort of see how the '04+ pulley os larger, there isnt any power difference as the front pulley is different as well but just a side by side.

i replaced my belt at 11000 miles only because it broke.

I think I read somewhere that on 03 models belts should be changed every 15K miles or 50K miles. Don't quote me on that.

lol funny cause my drive belt snapped at 4k and i ride like a girl

my bike had a little over 6k on it when i bought it. 03 xb9r. the guy i bought it said he had the belt snap on it with about 5500 miles on it. ive also hear people say that when white shows on the side of the belt, that it needs to be replaced. mine shows white and only has under 1k on the new belt....
