I'm looking at purchasing a 2007 XB12STT. It has been tipped over with a small dent/scrape on one of the header pipes, and a deep scrape at the right axle end of the swing arm. If it was running when it was tipped is there a possibility of internal damage due to oil starvation? Would the dry sump system prevent damage? I know if you starve a wet sump damage can occur, but I've not worked with a dry sump system on a bike before. Thanks for your comments and advice.

The XB has a tilt sensor that will shut the motor off if the bike is to fall on it's side, so there shouldn't be a problem.

I'd say 90% of bike tip overs happen when the bike is running. I wouldn't worry about it. If the previous owner was dumb enough to let it lay there and run long enough to cause any damage(aside from the previously mentioned tilt sensor that would've shut it off), I think the bike would be in trouble for various other reasons as well. I think most peoples first reaction when a bike falls over is to flip the kill switch.

A couple years ago when "someone" forgot to put his kickstand down on my , i mean his SS the first thing i , i mean he did was reach over as the bike was lying on me, i mean him and hit the kill switch. After working myself, i mean himself out , the bike fired right up and never had any issues, the bike was on its side for about 5 minutes. I'm , i mean he's a dork! [smirk]

Yes, it's the one in Arlington. I haven't gone to see it, but the comments state that it's been down and the pics don't look too bad. There is also one down in Houston at Mancuso.

Yap, that bank angle sensor kills the motor almost instantly when the bike´s down(I know that for sure).

Dallas------- the one at American Motorcycle Trading is a rough peice of machinery! He's been trying to sell on ebay for several months. Went and looked at it and was told it had a full service and runs great, but it won't stay running! It is in pretty rough shape , looks like it was thrown down a hill . The pics look better than the bike .IMHO. [smirk]

WALLSXB: Thanks for the info. I've noticed that it has been for sale a while and figured something was up. I'll pass on this one and check out the one in Houston. If anyone on the board knows of an SST for sale within a few hundred miles of Dallas I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

Dallas-----No problem ! I offered the guy two grand and he laughed at me and told me someone would pay good $$ for it since they don't make them anymore. The bike is just an all out TURD ! I'll keep an eye out for one for ya! [up]
