So due my budget status, I went and bought shorty levers off ebay. The look good and fit pretty well but I do an an issue with both the brake and clutch lever. The levers I bought were the 6 position levers but the adjustments limit the movement of the levers. What I mean by this is that both levers are adjusted all the out (Position 6) but they are not that far out. With the clutch lever pulled all the in, it does not fully disengage the clutch. It used to pull a little bit when at a stop light and in first gear but I adjusted the clutch cable and it elimanted the pulling. Though there is a slight gear grind when shifting from neutral to first. With the brake lever in the 6 position, I can pull the lever all the way back to the handle bar. It brakes hard and will probably brake hard enough to lift the rear end (haven't tried it due to a new tire and cold temps). With the stock levers, I obviously never had these issues but I replaced them due to a bent brake lever from the previous owner.

Anyone have these kind of issues with their Ebay levers? If so, did you have remedy? I can see one way to be able to may the lever stick out further and that would to be adding Aluminum to the cam adjuster but I would need a tig welder....which I do not have.

if you bought the cheap levers you'll need to grind a bit on the brake or else your front will lock up after a while.

can you post which levers you bought

Some people have had to do this, but others haven't. Just check the the clearance where the lever actuates the master cylinder.I've had levers I bought from ”The 2 Wheels" on eBay for a couple years with no issues at all.

Good luck solving your issues.

Sense we ate talking about levers I need a new set I want the ones 5-0dro sell but they are not in the budget as of yet.. But I don't want to but the cheap Jap levers off eBay! Something that is mid grade is cool but nothing cheap what are some decent brands?

Concerning the brake lever. I had a cheap set of Ebay levers that were originally for a GSXR so I had to fit them for the application. Since then, it appears that there are variations that are made for Buells w/o modifications. You mentioned that you can pull it to the bars. This could seriously limit you in a hard braking scenario at higher speeds. Mine were like this. For most riding, it wasn't an issue, but when braking hard they would come up against my fingers on the bars (they were shorties). That being said, I took my bike around the block yesterday with the new ASV levers fitted and they felt really nice and have a lot of adjustability. I could immediately tell the difference in quality. <<<Not a selfless plug, just some first-hand feedback on the differences. I'm quite happy with them thus far. ;)

On the clutch side...Did you adjust the clutch slack in the primary? I made the mistake of not doing this and I believe it added to the primary failure I just had to deal with. The adjustment is real easy. Pretty sure there's a DIY video on it at the top of the forum page. This may or may not cure your clutch disengagement issue but it's worth a try and is a must do IMO.

Good luck!

Hey all,

Concerning the master clearance, I did shave some material as I did notice there was excess amount of material causing the master to generate some pressure and apply the front brake without any input on the lever. I rode it all day yesterday and did not have an issue with the brake applying itself as other have had.

I did not adjust the clutch on the primary yet. I'll look into that when it warms again. I just adjusted the slack out of the cable at the adjuster but not on the primary. These levers were pretty cheap at $25 both shipped to my door. I may just scrap them and invest in some ASV's this summer when I get my internship. I just got these because I heard others have had some success with them but I guess you get what you pay for. Explains why the ASV's are priced the way they are. Thanks for all the input y'all!
