My Jardine RT-1 has taken a beating, especially when I went to Denver, CO. I didn't realize I had bottomed out and the muffler took a hard hit. Enough to move the canister and have the rivets rip through the aluminum.

What to do. A new one cost 400+, and used ones are rare. But I happened to come across a RT-1 for a CBR. From the photos this thing looked brand new, and the seller said the same.

I knew it was a gamble if it didn't work, but I bought it and it just arrived. Basically the same setup, except the end caps.

I need to drill out the rivets and replace the new end caps with my old end caps. Boom...

I had replaced the packing on my old RT-1, so I can save the packing for when I need to replace the packing in the new muffler.

Was a shining moment in a so-so year.

Happy hunting!

Basically, it is the exact same muffler. The end caps are different and I only replaced the endcap that goes into the header downpipe. Most of the holes lined up, but I had to drill a little bit on two of them to get it riveted in.

So, spent $95 bucks for muffler, $5 bucks for rivets, and a little time. Once I opened it, you could tell it was never used. The packing was still original.

I think as long as it states it's an RT-1, you should be good with a little modification.

Cheers!

Do you still have the other end cap (exit side)?
I have a GP-1 with the long pipe that exits near the swingarm, but I visually prefers the RT1 look. I don't want to buy a complete used can for just a cap. If you want to get rid of it, I'll gladly buy it from you.
