After I installed the EBR ECM and performed the TPS learning steps I noticed that my bike has little to no engine braking. Any ideas as to the cause and how to fix it?

It isn't an actual problem. It is how EBR programs their ECM. You can send it back and request engine braking or more engine braking. It takes some getting use to at first and I'm still not certain about it. In a group it sucks as I run up on the bike in front of me. On the flip side when you let off of the throttle you don't scrub off so much speed.

I guess I just thought that a "race" ECM would still have a good amount of engine braking programmed in. Actually I thought it would be more so than the stock ECM.

I will agree, if this is "normal", it will take some getting used to. I will give it another go and decide what to do. Thanks!

sk8ace - this is news to me as well. Since EBR is completely unresponsive on this question (which I have emailed them twice now)I don't really know how to resolve it.

most racers dont use engine braking all that much, hence slipper clutches. it may have helped when brakes sucked back in the day but now the brakes are so good. on the race track the goal is to constantly accelerate as fast as possible (both positive and negative) engine braking is too slow for the track. if you are engine braking a lot you are braking too early.

I do it for red lights that I can see at a distance.
And thats to really just scrub enough speed to not really have to put a foot down.

I just put in a EBR ECM in my '09 xb12 last night.
I'd say it fits much better to street riding being as smooth of idle as it is.
Makes dealing with heavy traffic much easier.
But I can see this making a huge difference on the track too as I can now really dial on the power as little or big as I need.
No more hurky jerky below 4k.

That makes sense konarider94. I guess that's what I get for thinking of a race ECM as an ECM for my street bike...

Giday to all. down here in NZ info for modifying ECM is still very limited so this forum is gonna be a lot of help. I will be happy puting stock ECM on dyno and getting max out of bike by fine tuning ECM to suit. I have modified my stock mufler (taken guts out) i dont mind look ov mufler and sounds great now,and we have a lot of stones on our roads here and stock mufler does a good job ov keeping them out.

Just give yourself a little time and you will get used to using your brakes. I actually hate Engine Braking due to I enjoy Track riding. And The good slipper type clutch will see to that, with a EBR Ecm of course. If you can practice makes right, back brake first then front right after.Try some Better pads, Lyndall works OK on these Buell Machines. Reigns are for Horses not for Engines. But you will get the hang of it. :D~Jimi

I like engine braking on my 1125r,I dont use the back brakes, they are to dangerious, they have no feel at all. There is nothing,or the back wheel locks up.Its not good.Maybe because I only weigh 137 pounds there is no weight on the back of the bike,I dont know.So engine bracking and as much front as I may need works well for me.I have never been on the track,But riding on twisting roads,I go fairly hard, and have a ball :D

Boy...I'm glad I learned how and did my own tuning.
I...still have engine braking, not noticably different from original factory braking.

I don't have a clue what the Buell guys are doing different than what I'm doing, but I can drive down the street at 2300/2500rpm without killing the belt and I still have good engine braking.
And..I have great power with the Barker exhaust.

I've taken baby steps and learned, made mistakes, went back and redid the mistakes, still working on the "little" areas of concern.
Overall...I'm happy.

What am I doing wrong ?

Mike
