Can you still use ecm spy to do a tps reset for the ebr ecm? Sounds like a dumb question but I hope I can.

>>EBR states specifically NEVER use ECMSpy with the new ECMS as the firmware is different.<<

So if you have a 03-07 with a EBR ECM how are you suppose to reset the TPS if EcmSpy is no good?

Is it safe to use TunerPro RT?

I didn't think you could reset the TPS on a 03-07 without a computer.

Can you expand on the directions provided with the EBR ECM?

And just saying..of course ebr would say they need to do it for you. So they can charge you. In the end they are still a corporation and they still need/want money. So just be realistic for a second it's a tps reset. I'm not taking my harley to the dealership for them to check my dipstick to see if I have oil.

I was literally just about to post a thread in the General Bike Chat about the fundamental differences between a stock and EBR ECM... Other than the obvious firmware difference, does the EBR one have more memory or a faster processor to work with?... Or is it simply an overhauled stock ECM?... If you can simply reprogram the stock ECM with the race maps and race data from an EBR ECM why would someone pay $300 for what would essentially be the same thing just programmed by someone else??....

Should I just start a new thread??...

I don't know if there is any physical different between a stock ECM and an EBR ECM but for someone not capable or willing to modify the eeproms on there stock ECM I think the EBR ECM is great value.

I bought one for my 2010 model 3 years ago when modifying an 08+ ECM was very difficult and I didn't really understand what to do, since then TunerPro RT has been updated and modifying it is now a breeze.

I've now modified my stock ECM with race eeproms, re-sold my EBR ECM and plan on doing some data-logging in the future.

I used the ECM spy to do a TPS reset and it worked just fine. I was having problems getting my maps to run right. When in closed loop they would lean right out. I was probably too rich. I did not have the patience to keep messing with it. I want to ride not mess with electronic tomfoolery. The EBR ECM works great. What a difference. With my D&D exhaust it is a must.

To reset tps do the following:
1. Turn on the key.
2. Set the kill switch to the run position.
3. Don’t start the engine. Rotate the throttle from fully closed (gently forced closed) to fully
open (gently held open), and then back again to closed (gently forced closed).
4. Repeat 3 times. Hold each position (fully open, fully closed) for 1 full second.
5. Turn the key off and on.

Drogen isn't that only with the 08+ or did ebr put that feature onto all race ecm's?

well i have an 07 xb12ss and got an EBR ECM but didnt get the EBR software, this was the instructions that came with the EBR ECU so my mechanic did that and it worked.

just got a service done last weekend and he did the TPS rest the same way and worked again so i guess EBR included it in all their new ECM's...

Now when you say it worked how do you know, did you measure what the TPS was reading before and after the reset?

That's great if it can be done this way on an 03-07 with the new EBR ECM but this is the first time I've heard of it.

Maybe someone could email EBR and confirm this.
