EBR Rotor with 08 Stator

So I have an 09 1125. The guy who had it before me was a Buell Mechanic in long branch NJ. He told me after 3, '09 Stators he put in an 08 Stator. I've put about 5k miles on the bike since I got it, with no stator issues. But I was looking to do the EBR Stator Rotor just to make sure mine doesn't burn up. On EBR's website it says fits 09 and 10 stators. I e-mailed them and asked if it would fit, they said no. My question is, how could this be? I searched and didn't find that anyone had this combination which is why I'm posing the question now.

The 08 stator requires the 08 rotor, so you'd end up paying 425 for a new rotor, not being able to get your core refund for no reason.

The 08's have 0 issues aside from I believe an LCD issue. Hang on to it the way it is, if you do ever have a stator issue, just upgrade the regulator along with it and you should be good for many many miles.

Lol sounds easy enough to me. I actually just replaced the regulator about a thousand miles ago. I actually considered mounting a water cooled cpu cooler to it to keep it cool. This is because I'm sure heat is the main killer of all these components, and most of them on a bike or car for that matter. That may be a summer project. For now then, I guess I'll keep the 08 stator and hope nothing goes wrong with it.

Heat is the general killer but the part that got hit the hardest was the 09 stator because of it's higher output. Buell didn't compensate for that so they continually fry. If you're using the stock or a shunt style, it could be a problem, but shouldn't be as it shorts the stator to burn off extra unused voltage, if you throw on a series that cools via airflow, it's all about mounting. Many have had great results mounting the under the tail with no extra accessories needed. Google "Buell 1125 Stator fix" and there is one pdf that talks through all of it.

Honestly, I'd leave it alone if it's running the 08 hardware.

I'll look into that, thanks so much for the help. Essentially I've fallen in love with this bike. Even riding a ton of new bikes, can't find one I like better than mine. So I wanna bullet proof this thing and start riding it 2 or 3 hours away from home. For that I need reliability. New regulator, 08 stator, new display, new battery, and having the abr actuator done next week, I feel this thing should be good to go for riding season.

As far as mounting the regulator under the tail, that is a good idea, and I just looked at the pictures in the PDF, but to me it looks bad. If I can mount a side mounted (for lack of a better term) CPU cooler to the regulator, I can put the fan and radiator (tiny) anywhere, and out of sight. The plus with that, even stopped in the dead of summer, that regulator will stay cool because it will have its own fan and cooling system. Yes it sounds stupid, yes its unorthodox, but I think its not a bad idea, and it definitely won't hurt the regulator to be cooler, so might as well give it a shot.

IT absolutely can't hurt. The regulator (CE-605-SB I believe) that most people are using is just a hulking piece of equipment that is a pain to mount as is. If it makes you happy, by all means you should do it. I wish you luck with the endeavor. Hopefully you get a well grounded bike out of it all.
