ECM help

I just bought a 2003 Firebolt XB9R. It is my first bike and I need a little help. I've installed a K&N air filter and a Latus muffler. I have an ECM Spy program and cable as I was told I first need to do a TPS reset. I have read all the info and manuals but no where does it say where the ECM is to plug into it. Excuse my ignorance but as I said this is my first bike. Thanks for any help

Pretty sure you have to take off fairing around headlights. It is mounted under there. Have to remove blinkers, and the mirrors, and the 2 bottom windscreen allens.

Thank you. Do you khow when doing the TPS reset, is the bike supposed to be on, on and running or off ?

I have a 12r but if you're just looking for where to plug your ecmspy cable into, it should be under the left side of your speedometer. should have a rubber plug in it, really easy to get to. If you're actually looking for your ecm, you'll have to rip some stuff off of the front end as stated above.

According to the manual, you should do it with the bike on and not running, when you're done you should start it up and make sure the idle is ok. If you click on help in ecmspy, one of the tabs should give you a tuning guide..there's a lot of useful stuff in there if you don't have it already.[up]

Also, pull the "Headlight" fuse so it doesn't kill your battery while doing it. [up]

I'm going to go off this thread. I used the search, searched ecm, and ecm spy. Nothing. So here goes.

I just put the factory race muffler, K&N, on my friends XB12R. Went to flash the eeprom with the race maps and settings but When I do, his TPS is 100% and there is no resetting it. Also there is error codes on his air intake sensor, and TPS ground. Also the fan ran when I turned off the key, the motor was ice cold.

So what I did was Copy all the fuel and ignition maps over his stock maps. Then I cut off AMC and the white wire. NO ERROR CODES. The bike runs great now. Almost good as mine, haha, same bike.

So do I know how to use ECMspy or did some bad eeproms come with my cable?

probably different firmware.

in some cases you cant load whole eeprom.

Sounds like you flashed the whole RACE ECM firmware not just the maps to the regular ECM, and then had mismatched firmware/hardware did that my first time while playing around and had the same symptoms...
