heres the deal, built my own bluetooth cable. i was able to program it using the instructions on ecmspy's website. i was able to change the settings and i double checked that the setting took. then i paired the BT cable with my tablet. opened ecmdroid and attempted to connect. no dice. kept getting a timed out error. i then re-paired it to my laptop. and i was able to connect using the terminal software. un-paired form laptop and atempted to connect to ecmdroid after pairing it back to the tablet. again time out error. what the hell did i do wrong? and before you ask i did use the search fuction. but i didnt see the answer i was looking for. i do know the modem it working.

Does it pair with the tablet and only time out when you try to connect to the ecm? If so you may have the TX and RX flip flopped.

it does pair with the tablet and pc. i get a the timed out error on both when i run ecmspy and ecmdriod. i can connect to the bt modem to pc using the hyperterminal for programing. i was thinking the tx and rx were flipped. have had a chance to try yet. i did follow the build on here and ecmspy. on the other hand the usb cable i built did work. 9 of one and half a dozen of the other. worst case, everything will blow up and my dog dies and i go to jail. lol sorry im just a bit out of it this morning.

heres an update. still timing out when i switched the tx and rx. tried using ecmspy. i still fail to get a com port when i autodetect. i type in the com port that uses the spp. the bt does connect but i get a timed out error there as well tried using the non- spp com port. doest connect and get a timed out error. switch the rx and tx back same issues. my bt shows up as 2 com ports, an outgoing spp and an incoming. i can connect to hyperterminal and read the programming to the modual. so i know im able to connect it to the computer but ecmspy and ecmdroid are still timing out. could i be that i dont have the modual programmed right and that i dont have the right drivers installed on the computer?

got it to work. when i follow the instruction on ECMspy's website it said to change the baud rate to 19200 for factory race ecm. that was i did since i have a race ecm. it says "race use only" on it. but after a search on google and reading different web pages, i tried one last thing. i changed the baud rate to 9600 for stock ecm. and go figure it worked on ECMspy and ECMDroid. now i am wondering if the PO had flashed the ecm from race only to stock. is that even possible?

You can flash the maps but not the eeprom.so that could be the difference. What year bike do you have? If it says Race Use Only on the ecm it's a race ecm

its an '04 xb12r. its got a race ecm then. but the programs work in the stock ecm baud rate, not the race ecm baud rate. oh well. my builds work, the programs work, the bike runs great, and now i can mess things up in the ecm. just seems odd.. .

gotcha there mine is marked at least. my just be a programming deal. i have noticed that no one has talked about the baud rate. there were other numbers i saw when i had my usb cable plugged in that hinted at it being a race ecm. it works and thats all that matters. let the tunning or frying begin.
