Hey guys,
Was wondering if getting ECMspy is worth it to read the AFR and get it close to 12:1? I have a 09 xb12r with filter, exhaust, breather mod, and air box delete. I have hooked up TunerPro and have my maps running pretty good, but was wondering if it is worth the time and money to up the fuel even more? Has anyone done a dyno before and after with results? And did you have to ajust your timing much?

Also was looking for a summer project and was thinking of doing a extended stock looking swingarm. I know the SS has the few extra inches and could just switch belts and lines, but I also was interested in what benefits there are with running a chain? I see that EBR sells a kit but for $1,800, but I don't think that will be in my near future(damn college tuition). So if someone has done it with a custom set up what was your total cost?

I'm happy with the bike I have now, but I always have that itch to do something else to it to make it my own creation.

Thanks for your time

ECMSpy won't work with any of the '08+ Bikes. You have to use TunerPro or Directlink. SS swingarm has been done a couple times on here, maybe one of them will chime in... Benefits of a chain would be ease of swapping gear ratios and repairable/arguably stronger than belt.

Edit: But IMO, for the Street, there's more Cons than Pros when comparing to the Belt Drive.

Sorry I should of said ECMspy for mono right? I thought I understood that you could use that for the 08+, paid version of course.

Is there away to change the AFR with TunerPro RT, I thought I read one cannot with it some where.

Alright, I was just thinking that for a custom project a chain would be an easier route, since a custom belt would either be a lot of money or not even possible.

I have found that our motors make the best power between 13:1 and 13.5:1 AFR under full throttle. Any richer and you are just burning more fuel and making less power. Put her on a dyno and play with the mapping and you should see the same thing.

TunerPro can do everything you want. I haven't used Mono yet but it can do everything too.

As far as a chain, you can change ratios easier like Steven said, but it really depends on what you like best. I would have stayed with a belt if I could have, since they are maintenance free and very quiet.

Which swingarm or how long your swingarm is will depend on whether a belt is still an option. There are lots of belt lengths out there, but you have to design the drivetrain and swingarm length around the belt you want to use.

A chain is pretty easy to setup and you have some options as far as chain adjusters. Expect to spend about $250 or more to get a good chain setup together.

Alright thanks for the info Eric. I'll have to spend a few more hours tinkering with TunerPro to get a hold of all the functions.

I was just hoping to get an idea with what all went into switching swing arms/drivetrain. I like the look, but wasn't sure if it was worth it or not, or start a new project bike.
