ECMSPY computer troubles?!?!

So i have the cable that runs from my data port to my computer via USB. Well i plug it in my computer reads it and i go into the device manager on my laptop and well there is nothing there to change the COM port so i look for the COM & LPT drop down and nothing?? I spent 4 hours trying to work with my gateway laptop and nothing. NEED HELP!!

First, install the drivers for the cable.

Second, plug in the cable, then turn your ignition on and set the killswitch to allow for ignition.

Third, if that doesn't work, come back and we'll help you some more.

Just so you know, you don't need to "change the COM port" to anything. You plug the cable in, open up ECMSpy, and allow it to auto-find the port for you.
