Does anyone have a picture of the lead that is needed to run the ecmspy from your computer???
I read on XOPTIs site that you need a special lead.
I have a lead that came with the VDST tool and wondered if this would work.

couple pics of mine it's approx 6ft long USB connector on one end and Duetch connector on the other plugs into the trouble code dangle on your bike.

And here's a cpl with it plugged into my ecm on my 12R
which is under the front fairing.

The VDST lead will not work with the ECMspy with the current pin out order. I imagine you could use it if you change the pin locations or sell the VDST on ebay and buy a cable. Im building my own cable right now with a USB TTL cable, its not hard and for only 30 bucks is pretty cheep. I will do a little wright up when the cable gets in.
You need this cable
and this 4 pin connector
Total 26$ with out shipping

Hi Guys.
Thanks for the input.

Gatorbuell - i checked out those 2 links and saw what you were talking about. I also saw that Buell USB Interface cable. I see its cheaper to make the lead but when i was playing about on the XOPTI site it mentioned aN FTDI chip which the pre-made cable has and the other cable you linked has a FT232RQ chip. Would you know if there is any difference apart from brand/name or are they both the same chips???

Again, thanks for the help guys.

I believe the only difference is the Voltage, I will look into it as soon as I get a chance. Im going for a ride right now, Its 75 degrees and sunny :D.

Thanks for your help with this.
I have another 3 months before we hit that but we'll shoot through that temp in one day and voilla... triple figures

Hi GatorBuell.
Just wondered of you knew anymore about those chip differences?
I'll try and ask Xopti as well and see what he says.
Thanks again for your help.

Hoverjocki,

The FT232R/RQ is basically an FTDI chip with some added features (Clock pulse and security dongle).

Those features are not used by ECMSpy, and the dongle may even cause issues. I'd stick with the regular integrated FTDI cable, since we all know that one works.
