I just began using ECMSpy to get the best tune on my 2004 XB12R, and was reading through logging procedures. The logs should be saved into the C:\Program Files\EcmSpy\megalog directory, correct? My installation did not include that directory.

When I press the log button in ECMSpy, there is a message at the bottom that says "Logfile: C:\Program Files\EcmSpy\megalog\20100526_2338.log opened". When I push the log button to stop the log, a message on the bottom reads: "Logfile: C:\Program Files\EcmSpy\megalog\20100526_2338.log closed". This leads me to believe it is storing a log into the megalog folder, which doesn't exist?? [confused] I tried creating the megalog folder, then logging, but the folder is always empty.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Gary

Are you using Windows Vista or 7?
If so you probably need to run the program as Administrator.

if your running vista they are hidden in an odd folder.
here it is
For Vista Users.
In Vista, you will need to look in your /Program Files/ ECMSPY folder at the top of the folder page you will see something called "Capatability Files".

If you click on it you will then see your log files in kennfeld. You will also notice that Vista puts those files in another directory called:
"user"/AppData/Local/VitualStore/ProgramFiles/ECMSPY.

Just a weird Vista deal.

Go to the Control Panel and choose Power Options and you will be able to choose the lid closing option you need. Look on the left menu pane.

If those dont work WULFGODSXB just had the same problem and Xoti helped him fix it. PM him and im sure he can tell you what he did to correct it.

great help guys, thanks a lot! the compatibility files thing did the trick, they are in that weird location like you said, RT. Another problem, though: i went for approximately a 5-10 minute ride while logging, but my log file size is 318 bytes. When I open this log file in MegaLog Viewer, it says "Log file contains no data". Did it not log properly? Or is this another Windows 7 issue? Do you think this will be fixed if I run EcmSpy as Administrator, like MickD suggested?

You can save them in any folder you like. I setup 3 seperate folders...
XB12S
XB12R
1125CR

Make it easy.

Also...date each map set you do. This way, if you don't like something, you can go back or compare each set of maps to the next set of maps.

Example : CR 042510-fuel-int-hmf-4
CR = bike
042510 = date
fuel = fuel maps changed
timing = timing maps changed
hmf = exhaust
4 = number of map

It really helps as you end up with more thAn two or three sets of maps.

Couldn't hurt to try. Hold down the Shift key while right clicking on the application icon and choose "Run as administrator"

make sure you have it in datalog mode in the setup...

most issues is that its not in that mode.

under options, make sure you have use megalog format checked.

sweet guys, it was that i wasn't running as administrator. once i did that, it saved the log files in the folder its supposed to, and they actually work!! off to tune.... thanks again!

ps, where is the screw to turn out when resetting the TPS?
