I may be blind or just have bad luck, but where can I get a free copy of ECMSpy or is there such a thing as a free copy???

Thanks

The free version of ECMSpy is no longer legal to distribute. The dev team put a lot of hard work into their product, and now charge a modest fee for the newer, more advanced ECMSpy Mono software package.

With that said, there are still individuals who distribute the original free ECMSpy. I'm sure a number of them will chime in soon.

There is also TunerPro, which is a free-to-use software package that truly unlocks the whole of the ECM. It can prove to be quite difficult to set up, however. Check my business out for help with custom tuning, if you need it: The Tuniversity. For about the same price as an EBR ECM, you can get a fully custom map and the knowledge of how to retune in the future.

ali, go to Buellmods.com - Downloads section.

Help me out here Octo. I've never understood why it's not not legal to distribute what was once was free to anyone. The New version, I understand & agree with completely against distribution because it isn't Freeware.

But the old free ECMSpy version - They released it Free to the public and people started profiting off of it. Fast forward to now, they learned their lesson and the newer version has a fee attached to it.

I can see people asking others not to distribute it out of respect, but to say it's not Legal? Help me understand that part.

Hopefully gunter or ich will see this thread and will be able to illuminate what happened a little better than I can.

My understanding is that the End User License Agreement (EULA) that everyone agreed to when they first downloaded the free version from the ECMSpy website explicitly stated that the dev team could pull the distribution at any time. Therefore, any distribution is in violation of the EULA, which makes it illegal.

Ah. I can see kinda where their coming from sorta, kinda, I guess. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Edit: My apologies Ali, didn't mean to crap on your thread.

Yeah. I'm not passing judgment on their decision one way or another. All I know is I respect all of their hard work, and I do my best to keep things on the level. They've done a lot for Buell tuning, and given that that's my field of work, I try to remind people of their wishes when I can.

I "heard" it was the ecm manufacturers that shutdown the free version because of pirated/hacked data from there intellectual property, and the developers wound up having to license thru the manufacturers, hence the fee based version, does any one else remember this?

After I had registered and downloaded the ecmspy for mono but I can't connect and
everytime I do an error code 3040 pops up . Please do let me know what might be the problem and how could I resolve it .
[confused]
