So I just bought a spy cable and want to get a little more hp out of my stock ecm... I'm a complete beginner and DO NOT want to screw something up... I've seen a few threads talking about being able to remap the stock one rather than getting a race ecm and I know I'll end up with more power with the race ecm but being a broke ass college student I don't have the $180 for a race ecm... soooo how do I go about doing this without completely screwing up the bike??

Start by reading the threads you found.

Personally I think ECMDroid is much easier and safer than ECMSpy for a beginner. See Buelltooth.com for instructions. I believe Buellmods.com has them too.

Familiarize yourself with the software first. Read the setup instructions and then the info for the capabilites and functions of the ECMSPY program. Then, once you feel comfortable about plugging into your bike, watch the YouTube video on how to remap a stock ecm. You will need to make sure you have the correct driver installed to connect to the ecm via com port. You will need to know what firmware your ecm is to download the compatible race maps (same firmware version as the ecm of your bike.) That is as far as you can pretty much go b4 you start implementing changes. Race maps can be downloaded from Buellmods.com

When you get to that point you should be ready to copy and paste your race map. Then, report back here and we can move forward in helping with that process.
