electrical question

hi i just rebuilt a xb9r got the bike started and everything repaired but...
no rear light unless you press the brakes. and no gauges? any ideas where i can start?
the only light that works on the gauges are the high beam light. is the gauges dead? but whats up with the brake light. please i am very excited to finally ride her!!!

Quick question I was riding my buell xb12r the other die and it died on me and all the gauges were froze even the speedo stayed at 70mph which was how fast I was going when I died. It has no power at all I even charged the battery and there still isn't anything that turns on. So I was wondering if anyone had an idea what the problem could be?
