Hey so today Emtychambers went down. He'll see this eventually im sure. Hes ok, had leather pants boot and all the right gear. Bike didnt fair so well. Low side on the left, took out his oil cooler, shift linkage, front head lights & support, handle bars, im pretty sure his forks are next to trash (he says other wise) rear tail section ripped off, looks like his seat rails have either pulled the bolts loose or broke, scratches everywhere, swing arm took some good rash, possibly more. Its an 04 lightning 12, incase you guys wanna show some support on repairing it.
This is where i stand on the situation, as a friend to James im worried about him continuing to ride the way he has. This is the 4th pretty seriously crash i know hes had in recent. Luckily for him the bikes has taken most of the abuse. 1 totalled Buell, and one that just wont die. As a Technician i worry, the bike has not been repaired or modfied properly for safe riding, damaged parts, and certain personal limitations set it up for eventual crash and major failure. As a Bueller i foresee another Buell lost. It seems its only a matter of time before this thing cant be repaired, then itll be parted and hopefully not turned into a horrible chopper build played off as a custom harley.
So ive offered Emptychambers to purchase his bike, i offered $1200, which i think is high considering the amount of damage and I personally know the hell thisachine has been put through. Its his only transportation, i even offered a trade for a running reliable 97 dodge neon, hes considering the offer. Maybe you guys can throw some opinions out there to help me and James work a deal or support him in continuing to ride. Im not gonna state the biggest issue because i believe if you truely have a passion for riding dont let it stop you, unless it puts your life and others at risk, and that is how i see it.

Glad he's okay. That's a lot of crashing being done though, from the sounds of how rough the life of the bike was it's a good trade and it should prolong the whole lifespan thing.

Glad he's doin OK, maybe it is time to slow down for a bit. More importantly definitely should consider that metal can only be stressed so many times b4 its junk. if that bike gets rebuilt again hope it gets done well,I've seen a couple clean title good frames on craigslist, maybe its time for some new metal;). theres no sense in adding insult to injury (literally). Again glad he's ok.

good to hear hes ok.imo i would have left this for him to post but im a little old school.

i would have left this for him to post but im a little old
He hasnt been active on the forum for a while. He stated that today himself. I posted it because i dont think he'll take my advice, and thats to stop riding until he can properly repair, and modify the motorcycle to his specific needs. If he cant afford to do so, or be responsible then its time to give it up. Im hoping other forum members opinions will steer him in the correct direction. I mean hes going to try and run it with a smashed oil cooler, that i doubt will flow very well if at all.

If he wants to be a retard let him. He's a big boy he can decide to be smart or stupid

Hes not a stupid, hes very positive & optomistic makes for great conpany. Hes neither mechanic or in a position where letting go of his transportation is easy. But, its time to make the hard grown up decision.
So to clear things up, im not insulting the guy. Ive gone out of my way to help him multiple times, this isnt a selfish act of trying to get a motorcycle, i already offered my services in repairing it properly. I have a concern for a friend, the bikes integrity comes 3rd to that. Id just like to see everything survive.

If he keeps riding over his level and not fixing his bike correctly he sounds stupid to me. But I hope it can be resolved before he killed himself or others

Glad he is alright, I myself have been through similar situations and learned all too well how much a body can take and the abuse does catch up with you, even if you walk away from an accident the damage will catch you later. just glad he is alright and sooner or later he will learn to slow it down. I just pray it is before he gets seriously hurt or hurts someone else.

Tell him trade for the neon and get a bike later even if he has to trailer it to a track where he can ride aggresive. He seems young and loves to ride but just needs to put his need for speed on a track enviroment. Just my opinion. Hope everything goes well jacob.

Think ya guys are missing the issue, hes not a speed demon and aggressive riding isnt what has put him into the dirt more than a few times, never said he crashed because he was going to fast. His bike is not mechanically stabile, the rear brake master actuates his front brake system for example. Though i could see this system function fine if it was modified properly.
The point is, as much as he loves riding, he shouldnt until he can properly repair & MODIFY the bike. hes actually the image of "i can do anything!" And in his situation i wouldnt give up riding either ~~~~>***IF**** i had the means to do it safely and properly<~~~~*** thats my the issue here.

Why would he set up the rear master to operate the front brakes?

If he's wrecked over and over again, it's obviously at least part his ability(or inability).

I get what ur tryin to get acrossed to your friend Crash. I agree with you. If I wrecked mine I wouldn't ride it until it was just like b4 I wrecked it or better. If I didn't have the $ to fix it, it would sit til I did or it would be sold for parts. I do auto-collision repair for a living and can tell you that a wrecked (unrepaired) or improperly repaired vehicle is not something anyone should put on the street. People don't realize how much even a small collision can compromise the structural integraty and the operation of a vehicle. A motorcyle makes that point even more important.

Not on the fence on this one, I too have helped him with his bike after a crash. Although, I agree with Jacob on his passion for riding considering how he does it. If the bike was set up properly for him and repaired properly, then maybe continue riding...but the number of crashes are adding up quickly in a short time. As an experienced rider, former motorcycle safety instructor, friend...Empty, your life is worth more than that of your passion for your Buell and riding. Please consider Jacob's offer, either way, here to help however I can.

Guys, we're leaving it up to Empty...it's his decision in the end. No need for name calling, this is simply looking out for a fellow rider. This is a serious matter of someones life at stake.
