Endcap Removal

Hi All.
What is the best way to remove the handlebar endcaps from my Lightening? I need to install some HVMP XB9SX vibration reducing bar ends.

I just wrapped some rubber from an old innertube around the cap and worked it back and forth with channel locks.

Thanks! Are they glued in or just tight fitting?

They have ridges.

They are just tight fitting, you can pull them out by hand, or if you aren't quite the manly man, then you can wrap a rag/piece of rubber around them and use pliers, of course, if you aren't going to use them again just use the damn pliers.

Mine were glued in. destroyed them trying to get them out and some of the pieces broke off and were still glued to the bar. I had to file the glue out to install my bar end mirrors.

My bike is an 09 model and I watched them take it out of the crate at the dealership. They did not add glue. It came that way from Buell. This is just my experience though I didn't say all of them were glued.
