Engine light on, Hesitation around 4000rpm & Fault code P1470

Hi fellow Buell riders. I have a problem on my 2009 XB12SS I am having.
My bike ran great with the stock pipe, it ran great with my Drummer pipe & EBR ecm.
I just installed a D&D pipe with an EBR ECM and I am now getting stumble hesitation problems around 4000 - 4500 rpm in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear and my engine light constantly stays on after the bike starts up and stays on as I ride. My fault code from what my dealership said is P1470
- I zero'd the TPS
- I checked my fuses and all are good

Is the valve actuator hooked up? Tip sensor get damaged?

Sounds dumb but some ECM are still programmed to run exhaust valve.
I know mine are

they are using ODB equipment and/or format to read your ebr ecm which is fine. it equates to standard error code #21 which equates to "interactive exhaust valve stuck open or set up sequence invalid" which is #P1470. either have the dealer disable the valve actuator, look at valve actuator which is unit under airbox cover....possibly broken internal gears.......or examine actual exhaust valve if still in place on your muffler. if muffler has no valve then it is the actuator unit. simplest thing IMO since you were already at the dealer is to return there and have them deactivate the actuator assembly. until then your cel will remain illuminated.

I just opened up the valve actuator.
The gears look ok, I did not see anything broken.

my pleasure. if following my recommendation don't discard the actuator assembly as it's an OEM piece for your bike. in your pic there is no servo to valve cable so i believe the ecm is seeing something it doesn't like during initial start up or shortly thereafter with resultant cel light and trouble code.
PS-your gas cap is on backwards. wanted to alert you before jesse (oh9bolt) caught that.

Hey Buell people I have a 2006 Buell XB12S and I do not have the actuator at all on my airbox. i just bought the bike and the previous owner must have cut the airbox around the filter and took the actuator off cuz i found that wire/connector (with 4 wires in above picture) dangling by my shock. My bike has been ogging out/falling on its face. there also is a pretty big hole in the muffler. could this be the reason why my bike isnt running correctly? its either an air delivery problem or fuel delivery problem. please help i am not sure what to do. thanks

in all likelihood....yes. betting the hole is on top front area of muffler? PO cut out the power valve?
the muffler needs to be repaired or replaced....your bike needs to be plugged into ecmspy program and checked...and if not replacing the IEV actuator which sits atop the factory airbox....then either buy an emulator and plug into factory harness or use ecmspy to disable the feature. IMO you're asking for big motor problems if you continue to operate your bike in its present condition.

It was a faulty ECM program. I sent the ECM back to Eric Buell Racing they reprogrammed it and sent it back to me. I installed the new programmed ecm and now my bike is running amazing! I am so happy with the performance and sound, no hesitation at all anymore. The reprogramming with the 2009 D&D fuel map did the job. Now I'm Rockin' Large with the Power of the Thunder!!! I love my Buell. Thanks for the troubleshoot help and support fellow Buellers!!!

iv just started to have a problem my engine light has jut came on but doesn't stay on for long juust a short time in town only ???? hi way no light i have a04 fire bolt 12 r 30 k mile i have not reset tps or afv valve dont now how or wher to start looking for it i unfortunately i dont have a book eather any help would be awsome
