Engine Oil Vote

I run Quaker State Enhanced Durability Syn. Blend, both cavities.

I change filter and fluids in both cavities at 1500 +/- 200 miles.

I have run Amsoil in the past; but I prefer to change the fluids in my bike more frequently then they recommend and do not like the price or the inconvenience of placing an order.

I am not advocating my choice over others, just stating it and why and also sharing it so that I may learn if there is a better choice when considering these factors; convenience, price, performance and longevity.

If I could see a document showing why I should not run this oil vs. another, please share it for I am very interested.

Is the engine completely separate from the trans? Would it be safe to run a friction modified oil in the engine since the oil won't contact the wet clutch? Currently I'm runnin M1 15-50 in both holes since advance auto is running the deal for 5 quarts and M1 filter for $29.

since my last fluids changes were made at the dealer,
i run Hd screaming eagle and formula +.

I am thinking of changing those in the future, but i am not sure which oil to chose as there seems to be so many of them outthere.

Any advice on what product to use or product i should stay away from?

That's a hard question cause everyone has a favorite. As long as it's a quality, Motorcycle specific, fully synthetic oil, you should be fine.

Edit: There's some HUGE oil threads on here if you want to check specific brands/weights people are using.

I must be the only person using dino oil. Valvoline 20w50 4 stroke. Works great in the engine and primary. Mobil 1 v twin made my motor noisy.

well the owners' manual actually recommends dino oil, so you should be good. They recommend the HD conventional motor oil. For any of you guys that are kind of on the fence, go with Amsoil. You won't regret it.

VALVOLINE race oil 20/ 50 reg oil is a great choice high in additives that motorcycles like...probably half the price of the our stroke

That's what I had been using. It's only 50 cents cheaper than the motorcycle oil, so i switched to the 4 stroke for piece of mind.

i can't see where mobil 1 20/50 car oil just in the motor would hurt a thing. that oil would never touch the clutch, primary, or trans so why not? just curious.

Lucas synthetic v-twin oil in the motor and royal purple 20w50 in the primary... For now.
