Engine Swap!

My buddy rider has a knocking 2007 buell x and has tried fixing the motor with no success and just wants to buy a new(used) engine now. Does anyone know if 08 and 09 engines fit in his bike. He thinks it's only 2004-07 that will fit. is that correct?

all the xb engines will swap out the harness and the ecms are different between the r and s 9s and 12s and year modles

throttle bodies are completley different on the 08's.
if you go with the 08 you will need alot more than just the engine ecm and harness i know this because i did a 03 xb9r to an 08 xb12r swap.

Your kidding me right?
K well motor, harness, new connector on fuel pump, throttle body, ECM, throttle cables, oil cooler, oil lines, I believe he has the new swingarm so he's fine there.

I didn't know if he had the 9 or 12 but obviously he has a 12 since he said 04-07. So if it was a 9 he would need more.

throttle body will come with the used motor,so will the oil lines,he is not swaping bikes cables will be good.and its a uly12.what else

and if it dosnt come with the oil lines his will still thread into the new block he just wont have 08-09 oil lines.his oil cooler will work it just wont be the 8 row 08-09 cooler

The cables won't work I tried and they were close but not long enough. Why wouldn't you want the 8 row oil cooler? And the throttle body didn't come with my motor.

Sorry my friend ended up taking his bike on a date with a boulder!! hahhah!! Lucky for me his hawk exhaust was not damaged and I was able to swap for my Jardine!!

Go to Badweb and look up Hughlysses. He just did the swap from an '09XB12 into his 07. He had to get a harness and ecm for the 09. Did your engine fail with a bad crank? We have a list of the failures so far, 8 out of the ones posting of 33(?) and the list is growing of good ones. Mine is in the group of failures.
