Hi, fellows. i would like to monitor the engine temp on my 2008 XB12S, i understand that its air-cool so i dont have water temp, oil temp but a cylinder head temp sensor with single wire. i wonder if i would like to custom fit a temperature gauge to read the temp, would any after market temp gauge work on? and should i get a water temp or oil temp for proper temp range?

GOOD FOUND, but i am building a custom gauge pod for it, so i rather have a remote one. so i see most oil temp gauge go up to 140 C or 300 F, pretty much the same for oil temp gauge. any idea?

On an air cooled motor.... some things are best not known lol.

But you could use an oil temp sender banjo bolt in your oil cooler fitting.

You're thinking like it's water-cooled engine, where 235* is hot and 245* kills head gaskets.

Air cooled engines are very different and a temp sensor will just aggravate your OCD;)
If the fan is on and it's knocking and pinging, just lay off the throttle for a bit at a mellow cruise. If you can't do that then stop. If you knew what it takes to smoke one of these motors, you wouldn't worry about a temp gauge.

FYI ebay has some with a sensor that attaches to the engine fins. I have no idea how accurate that is or what temps are "normal"
