Those of us who live on the east coast know we are having a heat wave. My 2000 Cyclone doesn't have a temp gauge, so how do I tell if my bike is overheating?

None of my previous bikes seemed to throw as much heat as this thing does.

How hot does the ambient temperature have to be before it becomes an issue?

I used to ride an air-cooled dirt bike in 100+ degree desert heat. I never noticed any problems, but I never sat around idling the bike for any extended period of time.

With an air-cooled bike, sitting in traffic is your worst enemy. Pay close attention to the sound of the engine and listen for pinging.

Even with my XB, if I'm in traffic for a while on a hot day, I'll get a bit of pinging if I romp on it. A couple minutes of 30+ mph cools it off, and I'm ok.
