Got some issue happening at idle and then mid-range that come and go.Bogging etc.

Checked ALL grounds etc. Battery etc. F-Pump etc All good. NO FAULT HISTORY nor CURRENT FAULT indications (Check Light) when and after it occurs according the ECMSPY Diagnostic .

Need some feedback on folks out there that had em fail on em and the symptoms they were experiencing.

Just ordered one from AL @ ASB. Can't hurt to replace it after 5 years and 23K.

rpbuell: failing or faulty ecm unit symptoms usually involve erratic idle, engine sputtering at certain rpm's, low speed engine miss including chuffing/puffing up thru air intake assembly. physical symptoms can even be seen by hairline cracking on bottom of ecm and around harness plug areas....and lightly wiggling the ecm and attaching harnesses at engine idle can induce stalling and sputtering.

Thanks lunatic.

But the question was regarding the ETS (Engine Temp Sensor) in the rear cylinder not the ECM.

The ECM is fine per the checks you describe. Did them as part as the diagnostic run.

The symptoms when my engine temp sensor failed are as you describe, but I also had a recorded fault (14, if I remember correctly)

Well, all done.

Not easy. Not one bit.

What a fking pain in the ass actually. My 08 SCGR has this dumbass convoluted wire harness with the ETS wire and another bundle of wires woven, heat taped together thank god, through it attached right underneath the main ground coil. Had to cut the old ETS wire in order to get to and access the conduit protector, then the rubber grommet and then the actual sensor with the socket.

The damn wire gets all woven up as you spin the socket. Had to fenagle the new ETS wire up and over the frame in order to have it run safely to the plug. Could not thread the D-Plug through that stupid housing assy.

Fired it up with ECMSPY hooked up, all ran smooth and watched the engine temp rise nice and slowly by steady.

Bigass pat on the back.

Will do the real check in the morning when I take her into work.

PHEEEEEEEEEEEW!
