can anyone give me some references on what packing is the best for a jardine rt-one need packing bad

I used some dirt bike exhaust packing on my Triumph and it works great. Dont remember the name but I got it at the local store for less than $20.

has anyone used the ceramic packing they sale on ebay sounds pretty good only 12 bucks seemed kinda cheap for supposedly being high quality

also has anyone had a problem with the rivets wearing through the outer case and leaking and rattling sounds like complete **** got to fix it

Rivet holes tearing ar a common problem with jardines. I bought one that was damaged and had to cut roughly 1.5in off the outer case. The big issue with mine was that the inner perfect tube was too short and when the packing burnt out it allowed the core to fall one end. Once the core fell it acted as a pulse hammer against the other end rippi g out the rivet holes.
If you take the time to do the job right take a few measurements you ahold never have the issue again. I also used 12 stainless rivets instead of the 6 Jardine uses.

freak 2180 what packing did u use and your saying you cut the case some off each end or all off one end i think mine is just the rivets i rigged it with self taping screws and it fixed it but they just rattle out which i knew would happen where did u get stainless rivets i cant find them local

Used FMF 4stroke packing I picked up at a local dirt bike shop. I cut all mine off the damaged end and made sure the inner core fit snugly in both endcaps of the pipe. The 1/8th in rivets I picked up at Lowes..... As far as the placement goes I just did lots of measuring. I didn't reuse the factory holes on the endcap. I placed 2 rivets equally spaced between each of the factory holes.

dirtbike/offroad glass packing is the only suitable stuff to use. moisture in atmosphere and in exhaust gas rots steel wool over time making a hell of a mess in the canister.
