Exhaust pipes removal ?

How much work is it to remove the exhaust pipes so I can polish them? I have an 08 XB12Ss.

30 to 45 minutes, just use red loctite when you put it back on

Some guy from a harley dealership told me the engine had to be "dropped" in order to get the rear pipe off. I dont think he knew what he was talking about. How hard are they to get back on?

its all simple stuff, the hardest part is not scratching it. another 45min or so to put it back on should do it.

to reach the rear headerpipe, yes
dropping the engine is very easy to do.

That seems like a recipe for disaster. How do you drop the engine?? Can one person do it?

yea, easy...although i would suggest getting a manual for this.

the goal is to pivot the engine on the rear mount with the help of a jack.

it really is a simple job, making sure you get it tq'd to spec is the big issue.

Dont reckon you need to drop the motor to wrap the headers. Easy enough with them on. [up]
