Exhaust?

I did an engine rotate today to fix an oil leak and I noticed something very odd. Those of yall that have pulled off the stock muffler, have yall noticed if there was 3 sides of a rectangle welded up on the top side of the muffler, about in the middle of the muffler. I am just trying to figure out if the previous owner did something with the muffler being as for some reason they disconnected the muffler side of the inter active exhaust.

I am not sure. This is the first time I have pulled off the muffler. Thats why I was so curious because that looks to crappy to be stock. Whoever was the first owner did a bit to the bike. The front and rear turn signals, passenger pegs were removed and the Inter Active control detached.

I dont even know if my bike sounds stock because I havent heard or seen another bike like mine in person.

it's definately something they did, I'd clean it up and at least paint it so it doesn't rust

Yeah. It has already started to rust pretty good. I figure I will get some of that rust off than paint the muffler with some high temp engine block paint.

i agree with above statement, i just put a d and d on my 09 xb9sx and i am in love with the bike now than ever before! i think it is a must to wear ear protection tho. my short 5 min ride to work and my ears are ringing. ridiculously good sound tho.!

Totally agree firestorm but your going to pull your hair out when I say this but I got mine for 250 plus shipping for a total of 300! The bike is ridiculous no more over powered lawn mower sound its my fire breathing dragon!

damn!!! i payed like 650 for my d&d. i had a stock firebolt pass me up when i was in my car with my window down i was like what the hell i cant hear it at all

I have been wanting to replace the stock but from crappy sound clips nothing sounded worth it. JG, where did you get your D&D from? If it sounds as good as yall are sayin it is an I can get my hands on it for that cheap, why the hell not!

i would get the d&d for your bike, if you like to hear a monster yell that is the pipe to get. you love the sound of it. i am in love with it and the best part made it the USA lol
