I was wondering if anyone has replaced their fan yet? While riding my XB12ss my check engine light came on, kinda freaked me out. So we stopped to get gas and I noticed my fan didnt come on. So I checked the fuse and it's blown. So I replace it. Once I got home I noticed fan was not running again. Checked fuse, blown again. So my question is how hard is it to replace the fan? Another question is where would I find another one besides Ebay? And are fans interchangable. (xb12ss, xb12s, firebolt, etc.)

That 's how I found out my rear rocker seals were leaking when my fan kept popping fuses and oil had spryed into the fan motor and burned it up. The dealership had me a fan in 2 days and it was replaced under my extended warranty so I couldn't tell you how hard it is to swap out but they should all be interchangable if i'm not mistaken.

it's not that bad. wedge some 2x4's under the muffler to un load the rear shock, then take it all apart.

the top shock mount is a bitch to break loose. prolly hafta use a cheater bar. it is right-handed threaded.
i think the bottom mount torx bolt is a t-40 or 45, but a flat screwdriver will do the trick in a pinch

once you get all the screws removed from the fan shroud, ya gotta twist, turn and rotate it to get the notches on it free of the subframe/wiring harness

Sweet thanks guys. I see oil in the fan area, makes me wonder if that's what caused mine to go out also. Don't really want to do this but looks like I have to. Thanks again

Hey if you have oil in the area might want to check the rear Rocker cover gasket for seepage. We would hate to see you go through that again.Welcome to the Forum and Take your time with the repair. It will work out Many of us have had to replace those gaskets. On the rocker covers.I have an 08XB!2R and have already had to do mine as well.*Jimi

Thanks Jimi. I did notice some seepage. And I am assuming thats what caused my fan to go out. Is there anything else I might want to do when I get into this? I will be rotating the motor since I have to replace that gasket. I'm going to do spark plugs also while I'm there. Anyhting else? What sparkplugs is everyone using?

Ok I got some NGK's coming. Does anyone know the torque specs on the headers and Rocker Covers? And fan is on it's way
