This started with me building a custom oil catch can and has evolved into rethinking my intake and everything that goes with it.

Whether I go open airbox or home-made FAST system, I plan to add a heat blanket. I've read that the Intake Air Temp sensor can be thrown off as a result. This doesn't make sense, since the air should still have to pass the sensor regardless...what am I missing? Is it relocated below the blanket with the "stock" FAST system for some reason?

I notice that some people are simply attaching two small filter elements to the breather tubes, and there was a kit for the FAST system that involved ONLY the filters. What's the cost/benefit on this? I know what the purpose of the whole process is and the catch can seemed like a good idea, but will the mini-filters clog up quickly or is that just as good as re-routing the lines?

All this thinking and re-thinking is making my head hurt!!!

2005 XB12R, by the way, so I do have the hole in the frame for cool air.

If the IAT sensor is on top of the blanket you should be good, if you put it below for some reason the IAT will read high temps for sure.

As far as the mini filters they just help to reduce the spray caused by an open tube/line, which is good but the extra fumes and heat still have to go somewhere thus the better option of a reroute.
