Getting up to 64* today! Tended the dead battery overnight and the new 12R started right up on the second try this morning (it was still a little cold early this morning so it started and died the first time). She feels good! It is a whole different kind of beast than my 600RR is! I like it though! I only put 10 miles on it, but I'll probably cruise around a bit after class tonight. :D

Then it is supposed to snow 4-6" tomorrow through Saturday! FML! Stupid winter! [mad]

BTW I HATE putting that damn seat on! Why the hell does it not fit any better! Quick release seat clips coming VERY SOON!! Going to get some for my RR too I think!

i hear you with the seat, and with the snow, finally its time for spring break tomorrow after class and rain and snow in the forecast for the next 3 days. its been 65 and perfect all this week and then soon as im off SNOW [mad] damn weather!

It just went from winter to summer here in norcal!
Enjoy the sun mi bredrin!
I just took the seat off my 05' 12r the other day for the first time& I thought the same thing! It felt so dated& primitive just to take it off![down]
Oh well, I don't mind in the corners :D

I didnt see you out there today but i was out and about for about an hour or so put about 60 miles on im not happy that we are getting snow this weekend either

and what kind of battery charger are you using cuase i have a battery tender jr hooked up to mine and i dont have to take the seat off to hook it up anymore

Crap, I'm so jealous [sad]. It has been in high 60s for past few days and my bike is in the shop for new rubber, oil change, wheels powdercoat and bunch of other stuff and on the weekend and for the most of next week we expect snow and rain here in Chicago. I'm picking it up by the end of next week so I pray for nice weather for the next weekend [confused].

So I put about 35 miles on it today. I wanted to ride it around more but I always just want to get home after I have class and chill with the gf a bit.

Almost got hit by an idiot in a car that was coming into a left turn lane. I was turning right onto the street he was coming down and I went to the interior lane of the two northbound lanes. He starts turning into the turn lane and almost comes all the way into my lane as I'm just straightening the bike out. I had to swerve a bit but nothing too bad. Lots of choice words were flowing out of my helmet though.

Anyways onto the ride. It's definitely different! First, I thought I was just going to hop on this thing and it was going to be "SIMILAR" to riding my 600RR. I knew it was going to be a different ride but I figured I would be totally comfortable on it like I am I throw my leg over my Honda. YEAH...not so much! This thing is a 100% completely different kind of freak.

I LOVE IT THOUGH! I like the contrast between the two A LOT! I love riding my 600RR but riding the Buell is a completely different feeling. I get off my Honda and I feel great. I feel like I had a good ride and the bike felt good and I am completely happy. It goes real fast and has a great sound too, but I sit down on or get off the Buell and I feel like I just want to break the law and start some ****!

The biggest difference in the feelings I get between the two is that the Buell feels much more primitive. The shifter feels more primitive, there is no heat gauge, all analog gauges, the width of the seat between your legs...things like that. The Honda feels much more refined and sophisticated and the Buell feels more raw and unsophisticated. Like it doesn't care what you think about it. It's just a bad ass and if you want to ride it deal with it.

It feels a little heavier than Honda. I don't know if it actually is or if it is just because the center of gravity is different on them so I'm not used to holding onto the Buell like I am the Honda. Mainly when I was backing it into my garage holding onto it from the side. It also feels a bit heavier than the 9R I test rode which I'm sure it is a little. It even feels like a completely different bike from the 9R I thought...

Regardless, I LOVE THIS BIKE and I am completely happy with my purchase. To close, I'll say I got plenty of looks! When I was putting it back in the garage when I got home a guy in the apartment complex next to me (sits right in front of my garage) was in his dark living room, got up from his TV show and stood leaning against his window sill ,until I walked into my apartment, just staring. LULZ I chuckled pretty good!

The Buell came with a tender hook up on the battery from the dealer but it doesn't match up to the plug on my tender that is why I had to take the seat off.

I bought a CTEK tender for my Honda so that is what I was using. I'm going to buy another one for the Buell.

If you haven't heard of them here is a link:

CTEK Website

It is the MULTI US 3300

RedWhiteandBuell I get the same feeling riding my XB. You know your Honda (I ridden my friend's 600RR a bit)is like athlete - a runner, XB is like club bouncer/brawler filled with testosterone and steroids.

Both me and my wife had our bikes out today on US135. Southern Indiana has decent roads for the area. The only issue is there was a fair amount of stone on the roads from dump trucks hauling gravel.

Other than that, it was a great day. Only four more weeks till the Buell run at The Dragon. See ya there.

I'm from Omaha, Nebraska. I was really weary of cornering with it too. There is a TON of gravel and sand and crap on our roads still, not to mention motorcycle eating pot holes everywhere. So unless I was going in a straight line I really wasn't pushing it much. It has been a terrible winter! We are not above average in snow or anything but it seems like the roads are so much worse than they were last year. We don't need the snow we are going to get later tonight...we need HEAVY rain to wash all this crap away so they can fix these pot holes. I hate winter! [mad]

RedWhiteandBuell, we should meet up for a ride after we get past all this weather. I live downtown and have a couple buddies in IA with Buells too. Got the XB out on wednesday for a short ride and TPS re-set.

Yeah for sure man! I knew there were Buells around here. I only see one every now and again but with us having a ex-Buell dealer here in West Omaha I knew there were more than what I have been seeing.

RedWhiteandBuell AND ZeeBeeXB care if I join the ride too I'm also in Omaha.

Speaking of that dealer they are having a dyno day next thursday the 25th i dont know how much it is per run

I wouldn't mind at all. PM me if you guys want to do anything sometime. I check this and the Buellentinboard at least one-50 times a day. :p

I got a PM from the dealer doing the dyno day. I doubt I'll be able to make it out to Des Moines for it though. Don't really need it dynoed either seeing that it is going to be bone stock for a bit. Gotta get it paid off real quick so I can really start doing stuff to it...plus I'm trying to do stuff to my RR this summer too...Damn money pits!

haha yeah no kidding on paying it off
its dillon brothers that was having the dyno days maybe Des Moines is having one too yeah mines all stock too but i didnt know if zeebee had done anything yet

Omaha NE! Me too. I'm down for a good ride surrounded by more buells. Just curious too, anyone around here a wiz with ECMSpy?

2nastyn8 i have dont have any experence but there might be a few on OSB, i think your a member over there too, that might be able to help you im not sure if 1969Dodge can or maybe his brother but it wouldnt hurt to ask

Hey Guys, I've just done the usual stuff air box delete/k&n, breather re-route, drummer, custom map (datalogging with megalog ASAP to work out some flat spots) etc...etc. I would never claim to be an expert with ecmspy but have been pouring over all the info for the last few months, 1969Dodge introduced me to the software last year. We all should get together and ride.
