I have to say...got my new bike and its also the first street bike I have every had and driven legally on the road. I love it. Power galore when u want it and rides like a dream. I am 6'1" 240lbs without gear and the bike handles great right out of the box.
The bike is new from the dealer and my first ride was last night. I have a few questions for you guys about a couple of things I noticed with the bike.
#1. When stopped on a light I shifted the bike to neutral and waited a couple of moments for the light to change. When it did I pulled in the clutch, shifted too first gear and rolled on the throttle a bit to move and i find the bike misfires a tad. Not a full blown backfire but just a couple of hicups then comes the power and the bike moves. Some guys told me don't worry about it thats what Harleys do. What do you guys think?
#2. When driving in 3rd gear and hitting 60km/h I notice the bike bucks ever so slightly. The rpms were around 2500-3000. I shifted to 2nd gear kept the same speed but increased the rpms to 4000. Same thing. I only notice this on a certain road. The pavement looks good. Since my first ride was only last night I haven't tried many other roads. I have only got 160kms on the bike so far. Again what do you think?

Hey Tin Man,
Congrats. About #1, this happened to me on my 08' Uly a couple of times when she was new under 500 miles. It was usually when it was cold outside. What I have found is my bike likes to go!!! Don't be shy about rolling on the throttle on take off. Getting the rpm's up on take off makes my ride a lot smoother.
About #2 I have not experienced anything like that.

tin, the bike is in break-in, so...it will do some things now that will smooth-out automaticly.

the things you are experiencing are things that will improve slightly after time but will improve even more after doing the breather mod.

your main goal now, getting the break-in period behind you and see what the bike does. ;)

congratz on the buy and i'm sure you'll have fun! :D

Hmm...double check tire pressure...and definitely check the suspension settings. There is a great reference in the owners manual on recommended settings, its a great starting point and should really help. If you havent made any adjustments to your height and weight, its doubtful that the dealer changed any of the settings from stock. See how that goes...and congrats[smirk][up]

Make sure the bike is nice and warmed up before you ride, Buells dont like to be cold and will do this until the temp is up and like Lefox said it will get better as the bike breaks in. Big difference after your first service.

Could one of the plugs beginning to foul? Its the first tank of gas and it was put in there by the dealer. Do they add anything to the gas like oil for the break in period.

Ohh forgot. I just filled up the bike tonight after the light went on and it held 18 litres and i only traveled 200kms.

you still have about 30km reserve, after the light comes on.

but when braking hard, the fuel gets thrown to the front of the frame leaving the fuelpump suck air and you'll stall.

so light on, get to the nearest gas station ;)
